Not the right move. A young manager battling the toughest managerial gig in football with a bunch of players with shocking attitudes and a fan base with sky high expectations.
You guys needed somebody more like an Ancelloti, Klopp, Spalleti etc.
I didn't imply a lack of success, at Ajax, but rather made an observation.
----------------------------------------------------------
I know you didn't. I was just pointing out that he was Ajax's best manager in a generation, so the observation about his demeanour at Ajax underscores my point that 'lack of passion' is an unreliable gauge of effectiveness.
I did understand why they kept ETH in the summer. But the fact we’ve been able to pry Amorim away from Sporting once the season started does make you question why they didn’t just do it in the summer.
I suppose it could be that the new senior management hadn’t really had enough time to come to the conclusion that this was the man they wanted. But it’s frustrating because it’s set us back this season due to the recruitment not being in line with Amorim’s style of players.

Ruud was fantastic last night. His enthusiasm and pleasure on the touchline and banter with the supporters was in contrast to TH starring out and scowling and shaking his head at his players all the time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would it have been the same had we missed all those chances we put in the back of the net as per the last three or four games?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No. It would have been as it has been for a long time now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We seemed to play with much more freedom, with smiles on the players' faces. However, this newfound freedom may have also contributed to the same errors in defensive areas or it could just be that certain individuals cause chaos because they are cr@p. It’s interesting to consider whether this freedom led to a higher conversion rate of chances compared to our season average, or if players are choosing to turn their performance on and off at will. Who knows ? The chances conceived and converted with confidence does not explain why we are where we are. From the outside, it’s understandable for fans to speculate, especially given the number of managerial casualties and the patterns of play leading up to each sacking that we have bad eggs in the group.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I dont think anybody is going to judge Ruud as an elite manager on one game. Or even the few games he gets at United. We akso know whst problemscwe have with the players. We still conceeded 2 goals at home last night. Vs Leicester. The new manager has a lot of work to do with this squad. Front to back.

One mistake was made by the keeper, while the others were caused by Dalot, Casemiro, and Lindelof. We were fortunate to escape with only two conceded goals, as Leicester had more than five chances to convert. From a defensive standpoint, it was a mess and requires significant improvement. Some personnel simply aren't good enough, but others may thrive under the right team structure.
I’m sure every manager has passion, it’s just that they express it in different ways. I’ve always had my issues with his character/charisma but I don’t doubt EtH’s passion, he’s just a bit of an oddball. Does Ancelotti show passion on the touchline, unless you count his one eyebrow?

Pre-INEOS, the defensive recruits have been an expensive disaster. Post-INEOS, there hasn’t been enough time for a thorough assessment, but there is potential for better performances under the right team structure. It's been equally as expensive.
From an attacking standpoint, the freedom we saw yesterday allowed the players to perform better. It has always been about converting chances, and to my surprise, we converted opportunities that we would typically squander, given our unusually high level of profligacy. It seems like the players were deliberately missing chances we've been spurning, or rushing them, suggesting they are choosing to turn their performances on and off. It can't be anything else.

Can't see it confirmed anywhere yet. Probably will be and when it is I look forward to his arrival.
One thing last night's match showed is we have a decent squad whose performances can be improved very quickly with the right man management, coaching, and tactics.
That doesn't absolve the players of the fact they had a p*ss poor attitude at times, but the right man (hopefully Amorim) can at least get them playing together and playing well, with dare I say a smile on their face!
The defence really is where his work will be cut out imo.

In seriousness, it does look like it's done now, doesn't it?
I'm really not sure about this one. I absolutely love Amorim, and his football. But I'm worried that this isn't the right time for him to be coming, and that we really, really don't have the right kind of players for him.
If I'm right on that last point, unless we see a very significant change in Amorim's philosophy and tactics, it's a big issue, because we also have not a bean to spend. Ineos will be relying on him to completely change these players' attitudes, ideas about football, and even roles. Which is something ETH obviously tried very hard and largely failed to do.
Obviously, if he brings Pote with him and my lifetime dream of seeing Bruno and Pote playing together is fulfilled, I won't care even if it all goes spectacularly wrong and we're relegated.
