The point being it will be imported from anywhere that is cheaper.

It seems to be a policy to close a loophole of buying up farmland to exploit the tax system, and it doesn't affect the vast majority of farmers anyway.
They have kicked up more of a stink with this than with the impact of Brexit on their industry.

He has also said: 'Land is a better investment than any bank can offer. The Government doesn't get any of my money when I die. And the price of the food that I grow can only go up. But there is another, much more important reason: I can now have a quad bike.

Far-right groups plan to hijack farmers’ protest in London against tax changes
‘Far-right groups are seeking to hijack a farmers’ protest in London against tax changes introduced by the chancellor, Rachel Reeves.
Extremists, including close associates of Tommy Robinson, have been using social media to urge supporters to turn up at the protest on Tuesday, as farming leaders sought to remind those attending of their responsibilities.
The event is being eyed as a major opportunity for exploitation by the far right, who are seeking to promote Jeremy Clarkson as a hero after he claimed the UK government had a “sinister plan” to “ethnically cleanse” farming communities.
The former presenter has become a meme on far-right social media accounts as activists and extremist influencers applauded his comments. Nick Griffin, the former leader of the British National party, posted a picture of himself in the broadcaster’s Oxfordshire pub.
“Jeremy Clarkson nails it,” said Griffin, as he shared Clarkson’s comments.
Paul Thorpe, a far-right YouTuber, published a video message urging his followers to join the protest, stating: “I’ll be there to support our farming community and I hope as many of you patriots will be there too.”’

Inheritance tax is the most stupid concept.
Imagine going to work, getting taxed, going to the supermarket in your car that you paid tax on, whilst paying road tax, with petrol that you've paid tax on, getting into the shop buying food that's got tax on it, taking it home...giving it to your kid, and they need to pay tax on it when you hand it to them.
Crazy.

We lived next to a farm growing up and when I was 6, my brother told me to go into the field of cows and chuck a bucket of water over a cow's head. So obviously I did. Then that cow and the whole herd chased me across the field and rammed me through the barbed wire fence back into the garden. Got a massive gash all the way up my thigh. Still have the scares.
The farmer used to bring me baby animals he had found for me to look after. They mostly died.
Then a few years later one of the cows killed the farmer by kicking him in the head.
That was my experience of farming growing up.

Used to work on a relative's dairy farm in holidays. Great animals cows - so much personality once you get to know each other! But yeah, a herd will gang up no problem.
They had a couple of mating bulls penned for most of the year. One was the most friendly big fvcker you ever got close to. One day in the pen doing his water and was aware something in my peripheral vision and the cvnt was coming right for me. Never seen a standing leap like it right back over the pen wall. Never trust the boys.

Dont worry. Its a pissy miserable cold day, farmers can handle this because it's what they do, but no other buggger will make the effort

Crazy.
