The gayness and other quirks

Nationality, height, hair colour, weight, lots of things people have little control over are sang about in stands. It's rare any of it is malicious.

He has his beliefs and is entitled to them. Why should anybody be forced to support a cause they don't believe in?
Pride as an organisation has ran its course anyway, it's achieved it's goals and those who don't align with it's values never will.
I'm all for people having a safe space and be part of a community, but what is gained by footballers wearing a pride band or laces? Honestly, it's a normal part of life now and if you're worried about peoples sexual prefrence you've too much time on your hands.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It hasn't ran it's course at all. The PL has a massive audience and are a massive part of exposure for young people. There hasn't been a single PL player come out ever, ie. they didnt feel supported enough to be able to portray their true self. There is a long way to go before it has ran its course.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thomas Hitzlsperger.
It isn't news because nobody gives a crap if he's gay.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You think it supports your argument that it's no big deal being gay in football to cite a gay man who didn't come out until after he had retired as a footballer? Surely the fact that he lived a lie while he was a professional footballer *underlines* the fact that top-level sport wasn't a place where it felt safe and comfortable to be gay.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I didn't know he came out after if I'm honest.
I just think as a society, peoples sexuality is generally accepted these days. You see gay people at work, on TV, on the radio, there's plenty of gay female footballers.
I'm sure if a football player came out, you'd get sections of fans with chants about it, but that goes for every player and their own quirks.
I just don't think whether players decide to wear a colourful shoe lace or not makes an iota of difference.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You don't think the exposure since Pride became big has led to more acceptance and more people feeling like they can be themselves and therefore with more time will lead to more people feeling the same way? You don't think the PL games magnify this exposure? I m3an they don't support these causes for nothing, it's essentially advertising, without profit, to promote equality.

The whole wearing rainbow armbands and kneeling at football is a load of rubbish for me. The players aren't allowed to wear any religious, political or personal messages.
Why should they then be forced to support a particular movement? Just ban it all and keep things simple.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think anybody/players are 'forced' to do anything, they have choices, it's just that if they choose not to, there tends to be some sort of backlash against them because they didn't participate for whatever reason (which is never good enough or the 'other' side).

All it's doing is promoting hatred toward the likes of Guehi and Morsy, with comments like "they don't believe combatting bigotry is more important that respecting an individual's right to believe that homosexuals should e.g. be executed and languish in hell for all eternity.".
The truth is, they probably couldn't care less about your sexuality (like 99% of the population) but don't want the backlash from their own community for promoting it.

And that's fine Fred. I accept that and I'm not going treat them any differently, argue with them, abuse them, beat them or discriminate against them for that. However if their religion, which is based on a fake God enters into the territory of doing any of the above to actual real people then I'm going to call it out.

I don’t see why their religious beliefs can’t be accepted in this specific case.
It certainly doesn’t bother me as much as it bothers you.

Simply as their beliefs are based on something that is fake and they are against people who are real. I find it easy to accept religious people, however I won't allow them to hold the morale highground over real people.

This makes as much sense as your earlier comments. You've basically stated you accept both sides. Newsflash, you can't accept both sides, they're opposite and one is real, one isn't. Have you ever met a guy religious person? Me neither. There's a reason for that and there's a reason why other religions began accepting gay people, despite their god telling them not to, it's due to their dwindling numbers. Other religions will follow in time when the same begins to happen.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you want him to show support for something he doesn’t believe when you’re not willing to do the same for him.
Let’s agree to disagree.

I will add though, that if the PL want to push this message, have an advertising campaign, have it plastered on the hoardings. For those who think the PL can influence their audience (I’m not saying they can’t by the way), these are avenues they could explore. Stop forcing players into a position they are not comfortable in. Equal rights and fairness should be for everyone.

The gayness and other quirks
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nationality, height, hair colour, weight, lots of things people have little control over are sang about in stands. It's rare any of it is malicious.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I knew what you meant but perhaps not the best choice of words.

Religion is fake and they cause of arguments, fighting and wars, politics can also lead to arguments, fighting and wars.
The other things are just promoting equality, not sure why anybody would be against that. Surely promoting equality shouldn't cause arguments fights and wars unless somebody doesn't want equality?

As I said, and I can only go on personal experience, I feel the pride community are generally accepted now.

The issue is he is against real people with real feelings and using a made up god to justify it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's funny?
It's is the truth broken down.
Two opinions. One is based on a made up belief system worshipping a made up god. One is real.
You side with the made up person over the real person.
That is funny actually.

Look I don’t care personally for religion but some folk are bang into it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Whoooosh
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This makes as much sense as your earlier comments.
