Ive tried avoiding this subject on here, but reading this thread really troubles me.
We are moving more and more to a fascist society every day, we are being told by the far left what we should support, what is offensive, what we are allowed to find funny, TV programs with the required content in them, films with the required content in them, what we say can now land us in trouble with the law.
I could go on.
And nobody is noticing it.

"Nobody is noticing it" = "nothing has ever been complained about so much or so vociferously in the entirety of human history"

Nobody noticing it aside, his comment is spot on

It really isn't. Even on this thread, people are saying players shouldn't be forced to wear the armband and are questioning if such a campaign really helps.
On social media, by far the most - and the loudest - comments I'm reading are from people saying it's "woke nonsense", it shouldn't be in the news, why should anybody have to wear an armband etc, why can't "politics" be left out of football. Not from "the fascist left" saying people should be forced to wear the armband.

Nobody should ever be forced to wear or make gestures. It's really that simple.
It has nothing to do with whether or not you are OK with that message, demographic etc.
It's incredibly weird that there are people who feel it's OK to force people to kneel for a political message or wear a political symbol. If you have to force and/or bully people into supporting your message then you need to consider whether the message will be sustainable long term.
People might buy into certain messages now but so did the England team when they did 'the' salute. People look back and can't believe it now but at the time they were just being inclusive, following the norms out of respect etc.
None of us know how any of our current views will be seen in 20 or 30 years time and nobody has the right to force people into wearing or doing things they don't want to. Not wearing a rainbow armband doesn't instantly mean you are homophobic and treating people like it does is absolutely no way to get buy in to your message. People will just tolerate it for a bit but eventually push back.
If it's a choice then it's a choice. People should eb allowed to make it. Berating people who don't follow means it isn't a choice and we're right back to forcing people into publicising political messages. That's just not OK, regardless of the message.
Absolutely, people should have the choice and it’s a problem that we now have these generic shows of support that certain people need to opt out of.
But, that’s what we have.
And it does then highlight individuals who believe homosexuality is wrong. The fact those people exists is also a problem.
Those two issues aren’t mutually exclusive.

Why does this need to be called out at all? People from this community aren’t marginalised in football.

Name me one openly gay player currently playing in the premier league.
As for the OP, I don’t think players should be forced. But players should be expected to explain their opposition to inclusivity.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe there just aren’t any gay players?
I never played with a gay player in 15 years of football. For the best part, gay folk aren’t that into football are they?
Real gay men don't need rainbow platitudes, they would helicopter their cacks and bum eachother on the pitch like their fathers before them.

This could be because they're either not comfortable playing the sport in the first place because they don't think they'd feel welcomed or they did play and keep their feelings to themselves. Both scenarios prettty sad.

Maybe there just aren’t any gay players?
I never played with a gay player in 15 years of football. For the best part, gay folk aren’t that into football are they?

Real gay men don't need rainbow platitudes, they would helicopter their cacks and bum eachother on the pitch like their fathers before them.

Why does this need to be called out at all? People from this community aren’t marginalised in football.

Name me one openly gay player currently playing in the premier league.
As for the OP, I don’t think players should be forced. But players should be expected to explain their opposition to inclusivity.

Yup.
"Religious reasons" doesn't cut it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
WTF next?
Explain who you voted for?
Explain why you never eat cheese?
Explain why you aint married?
Explain why you've never worn yellow.
JEEEEEZUS FACK!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What's the religious reason?
Sweep sweep.

This could be because they're either not comfortable playing the sport in the first place because they don't think they'd feel welcomed or they did play and keep their feelings to themselves. Both scenarios prettty sad.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
If someone think homosexualoty os wrong but does it discriminate pr prejudiced against them is there a problem. I think supporting Manchester United is wrong ut I wouldn't discriminate against a united fan.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s an interesting question
In theory, no. But in practice, is it really possible to hold that belief and never let it affect any behaviour? I doubt it, personally.

The irony is that some of those beliefs come from religion, which is the biggest load of bollox ever invented.

And do you reckon that's because gay people are genetically conditioned not to like football? Or is there likely another reason do you think?
