No doubt it’ll all come out in time, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Ashworth has told Berrada that we need to shift Rashford, Nacho, Miro, Antony, and one or two saleable others who don’t fit Amorim’s system perfectly (Mainoo?) to both generate cash to reinvest and clear the wage bill, and Ratcliffe has blown his top.

Given the complexity of bringing him in to begin with, this is a mess.

That said, we've no idea what led to this outcome. If Ashworth really was in favour of retaining ETH or bringing in Southgate then that would be a concern for me.
