Rashford United career winding down

Rashy is done at United. His whole demeanor stinks.

posted 6 hours, 18 minutes ago

He's gonna need to take a major paycut.

I think most United fans would agree that it is time for Rashy to move on. PSG would probably be a good move for him, as he would do fine in the French league I am sure.

Over the years we have seen SAF sacrifice a talented player for the good of another player who went on to be a mainstay in the team. He did it with McGrath to get him away from Robson and also with Sharpe to get him away from Giggs. Hopefully Garnacho can learn from this and push on. I personally still believe that he can play the no.10 role on the left.

No he isn't. He might need to take a paycut, but it won't have to be major. We will just accept a lower transfer fee and the buying club will pay him a larger signig on fee to subsidize some of his pay cut.

We don't know what he's going through but something clearly isn't right. He should be absolutely buzzing to play for United and be earning all this dosh so something has happened we don't know about.
Quite a few people keep saying they are hearing he's got off the field issues so that could literally be anything.

I do agree though it's best for all parties now that he gets a restart somewhere else. Still don't think there's going to a huge queue of clubs though.

I'm not making excuses for him but if things aren't right at home and/or in his head then it can be very difficult to be OK. Especially when you're under as much scrutiny as he is. It's difficult enough for people like us here so those in the spotlight get it much worse. There's really nowhere to hide.

I fear for Garnacho more than Rashford. His brother/ cousin is going to get him in big trouble. I believe he is the one that leaked the team.

posted 5 hours, 49 minutes ago

That one season under ETH aside, Rashford simply hasn’t developed as a player since coming through. His heading, back to goal play, decision making, left foot and workrate out of possession remain poor (the work rate has deteriorated season after season).

As well as not looking right mentally, he also looks like he’s lost a bit of that explosiveness that was so key to his game. It might explain why he’s struggling to take players on as much as he used to, why he’s not getting that extra half a yard to get his shots off etc.

On top of that, there doesn’t seem a clear place for him in Amorim’s 3-4-3.

If we could replace him with someone like Cunha at Wolves we’d look stronger overall at both LF &/or CF.

I don't know who is doing the leaking, but what do they get out of it? Seems completely bizarre to me. You are playing for one of the biggest teams in the world and you risk it all by leaking the lineup? Weird.

Welbeck right now is better than Rashford.

During the season Ronaldo left, I told folks then if you think Rashford continuing this form and everything clicking into place you’re in cuckoo land. I wish I was wrong.

Yep, he has a good season every 3 and that simply isn't good enough.

A "cultural reboot" is certainly necessary and if Rashford is to be a victim of that then I fully support it.

I've always said poor form can be excused, but a lack of effort cannot, especially on his salary and connections to the club.

Which means he's probably been the one leaking team sheets for the last 3 years.

Rashford was never close to the elite players unfortunately. Had a few very good seasons statistically but you could pretty always tell he wasn’t going to reach the standards of the top PL wingers.

posted 5 hours, 29 minutes ago

People are completely right to be fed up and want a new start away from Rashford now but just need to be mindful about saying stuff about him personally.

As I pointed out to a few people last season......there was credible stories last season that he's lost a close friend and a cousin in the last 2 years, both who passed away far too early. It's probably hit him hard if that's the case and completely understandable how he looks lost to the world.

Sad how it's turned out for him and I hope he does get his mojo back even for another team. He's never been world class but he's much better than the player we are currently seeing that's for sure.

Once a red, always a red though and we don't abuse our own who come through the ranks. It goes against everything this club was built on.

posted 5 hours, 28 minutes ago

Only Robb has ever thought Rashford is world class. He said he's better than Mbappe.

He's gone a bit Dele Alli. Think's he's some sort of G, lost all focus and drive.

If you read my comment above.....I believe his cousin may have committed suicide in the last 2 years who he was apparently very close with. I think his off the field actions and decisions have been his way of dealing with this stuff sadly.

Sad to see really.

One big issue.

Who signs him? Huge wages, I imagine you will want a decent fee. How much is that going to be?

Is he good enough for anyone that can afford him in Europe? My answer would be nowhere near.

Would be refreshing to see United punt him even if it meant taking in a quarter of what he's supposedly worth. For me that's what it will take, a golden handshake that keeps his money up to get rid of a bad apple.

I do wonder how much of that comes back to his back injury. He struggled for a long time after he got that injury and you could see he couldn't make as many runs on his return. He still had his best season after the injury, but has he had to take painkillers to mask the injury? Has that impacted him mentally? Has he now come off the painkillers and its causing him issues?

That's enough for anyone to go within themselves if that's true. Maybe a change of environment will do him some good.

may be. may be not.

He's always been on and off flaky, never really worked hard enough, very reliant on his considerable natural talent.

I wouldnt still be giving him a free pass, 2 years on, despite the tragic circumstances of his cousin.

posted 5 hours, 11 minutes ago

365k a week he's on, 4 years to run.

Pay up his 75m

Say he can get 100k at the type of team and level he's actually at. The team would need to pay 55m for you to not lose money.

Gonna be like shifting the immovable object.

posted 5 hours, 5 minutes ago

He's not earning 350k this season as we aren't in the champions league. All the players get an automatic 25% reduction in their contracts when we miss out.

posted 4 hours, 54 minutes ago

Our salaries are different as they don’t get their own image rights and all other sorts of factors. Chance he could level things out somewhere else with a decent agent.

Not everyone responds positively to death threats, constant online abuse and being called into question for wanting to feed the poor.

Some might even fall out of love with the profession that puts you through such disproportionate levels of exposure and scrutiny.

Fancy that.
