* if you want the details, I paid in dollars and she wanted to give me change in shillings. when i said id rather have dollars she told me she's have to ask the manager and would call me when she'd spoken to him. i said no don't disturb me, just tell me whenever i come back down.

the girl on reception - who'd generally been a pain* - phoned up the manager when i checked in (and i'd paid their front desk rate even though wed dcussed they had a lower online rate) and asked him if she could release the studio suite. i asked if the studio suite was nice and she said oh yes it's a new room.

when i got upstairs the bathroom stank of must, and there was an internal window open that's too high to reach in order to close. it was also on the same elevation of the building (and only on the 3rd floor) as a karaoke over the street, and the noise of this shti was going round the room.

i asked to change room, and the manager came up and just denied there was anything wrong with the room. he said he'd go and speak to someone and then phoned my room and said i can change room in about 20 minutes. 2 more calls later and the front desk was still "making the booking" to allow me to move.

in the end the karaoke place finished and it went quiet so i just stayed in the same room.

I'd already tipped the restaurant $8 even though the waiter tried to nick my valuables bag.

If I see the nice guy from reception today then I will apologise to him no problem.

Don't know about you caaaaaants, but I've already:

- bought 2 tooth brushes
- bought 4 pairs of socks
- bought a ferry ticket
- tipped someone 30p who wasn't bothered
- tipped someone 45p who was over the moon

Probably going to try to get to Malindi in Kenya for my birthday. Hopefully it's not a disaster this year.

Off on the road again. Hopefully only 5-6 hours today !

Then will be at the pool by the sea.

Don't want to tenpt fate, but I bet a lot of green travellers come a cropper getting on the zanzibar ferry in Dar. Absolute fackin bedlum. On board it's nice though. Best but if the journey this as the other end'll probably ne carnage too. Then it's back on another minibus ! Oh well, all an experience, and better than being sat at home pushing up to the 19st mark.
