SE,

Don’t you work in finance? You understand how the global financial system operates, right? It involves EVERY country, including those you may despise for their actions, for reasons like those we’ve discussed. Money flows into every type of stock and sector around the world, from the retailers you shop with to the institutions you transact with. The club doesn’t operate in isolation, even if you think it does. That means you, and every fan involved with the club, are already engaging with money from the Middle East in your everyday lives.

So, the morality argument you’re making loses its weight when you consider that we’re all part of a global system that includes this kind of investment. If you’re truly committed to your stance, you’d have to remove yourself entirely from the system, including the internet, and then make the argument. Only then would it carry real meaning. Until then, it's difficult to ignore the contradictions inherent in rejecting one specific source of investment while still benefiting from the broader system.

Yes, make the moral argument if you want to see change in those regimes. But don’t use that argument to reject a source of finance simply because it’s from the Middle East, especially when you’re already part of the system. It’s a contradiction. You need to change your record.

Also, the Qatari that was stated to want to buy United was usurped by Ineos. Would we really want those guys in charge when we don't know anything about them. It'd be typical if we had the only Arab owners not to have unlimited wealth!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wasn’t that more about the Glazers wanting to keep control?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Perhaps, but if the Qataris were really serious I reckon they'd have got it done.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It has been well reported the Glazers never wanted to sell the whole thing. They took the pis* with the Qataris.

You all wanted Jim you got Jim. Deal with it and move on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I certainly dont remember everybody wanting Jim
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Most were opposed to Middle Eastern investment on JA and were open to anything, not necessarily just Jim, the reality was Jim was the only alternative!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There is only about 10 of us on JA. ... United fans on the whole in SM wanted the Qatar bid
----------------------------------------------------------------------

There are more than 10, but I don’t recall overwhelming support for the Qatari bid. People wanted outright ownership, for sure, but many were making the moral argument against Qatari ownership.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
cmon... some did OK. ffs.

Many didnt. They saw the Qatari bid is the preferred perfect answer.

Much inner City development on a High Street near you in the UK is Qatar backed. I dont see anybody moaning about that.

Its pointelss talking about tha Qatar bid anyway. We aren't even sure if was real.

We got Jim.... and its going badly. Thats the discussion point of this thread. Harping on about hes better than Qatar or whatever, doesnt change or help fack all about the reality of our situation atm.

I would be worried by the fact that MUFC (who ever they are) are declaring publicly that they are embroiled ina a dire financial situation atm, despite being minority owned by the richest man in the UK who owns a multi-£billion chemical business and has just recently passed all his personal ownership and liabilities into that business.

That’s an entirely different angle if we’re suggesting the Qatari bid wasn’t a serious one.

Given that Jim was the alternative, he clearly ticked all the right boxes for the Glazers. His proposal favoured their self-interest far more than it benefited the club or its fans. This suggests that Jim conceded so much to win them over that he’s effectively Glazer 2.0, and with the sweeping cuts now taking place, it all starts to make sense.

There doesn’t appear to be a genuine financial crisis, instead, PSR is being used as a convenient excuse to streamline Utd. Meanwhile, the club still maintains a bloated presence at the Sporting executive level. The cynics might argue that while Utd’s turnover remains healthy, costs are eating into profits, and Jim is simply clearing the cost base to ensure the Glazers continue to benefit. It could even be part of a larger strategy for Jim to secure overall ownership in the future.

Jim himself has admitted that the decisions he’s making will be unpopular but necessary, and he’s acknowledged that he won’t get everything right. That transparency, while refreshing, does little to inspire confidence among fans who are increasingly sceptical of his true motives, his competence of running a club even!
