Special players for those special shirts

Squid - fair enough reason. So I won't argue it, but we do have the problem with modern day players and their shirt numbers then.

As a compromise we must have the letters BN on a tracksuit then surely?

As one of our elder and most respected posters you can also have a pick

So player and number please ...but please dont take a number that's gone ....

The problem Im having with it, is that Mabbutt is my lifetime, but if Steve Perryman was #6 then I would have to say give it to Perryman. He was with us for 17 years against Mabbutts 16, won 2 league cups, 2 FA Cups, and 2 European cups. Stayed with us when we were relegated.

So in one sense for me its Mabbutt, but then Im only 31, so for someone with a few more years on me then people will say Perryman.

I have to side with Perryman if he was number 6. Its only because I don't have knowledge of older numbers, but I would say he's more iconic. Going off to check a spurs book for the number....

I think spurspensioner should have a say in this though...(chickening out)

Blanchflower No 4

....

TBH I cannot see anybody moaning about that even if Mullers and Roberts were great 4's

As a kid Mullery would spend hours signing books and chatting to the kids whilst the G-Men would knock them out of the way to get into the White Hart

Okay, just done the research that I needed. Perryman was indeed number 6 (I have the DVD boxset of the FA Cups (61, 62, 67, 81, 82, 91 semi and 91 final (oddly not the 87...) put it in and yeah Perryman was number 6.

Played nearly 200 games more than Mabbutt.

I have to go for Perryman, but its a tough one with both being such loyal servants to the club, both great players, both captains...

I think though for someone who would have witnessed both they would say Perryman. So Im going to fall on the side of Perryman.
