In hindsight Arry I totally agree....but at the time Reid was being trumped as the main target in the deal. And we all know the midfielers cost more than the defenders - just how the game works

Modric is higher then 40 million since we rejected that bid
BAE value is more about 16 since we wouldn't want him to leave.

Demba,
70 million for bale
=================
£80m?
Demba - maybe Chicken was getting a little overexcited, but I don't think we'd sell him for less than £60m....why would we??
Anyway, I don't remember posting this on the Newcastle board...by all means come in and sit down, but maybe remember your manners
£81m to break the record.

actually forgotten what the Ronaldo fee was? 70 or 80m?
Why £70m for Bale? Why not £170m?
What a clown.

It was £70m. But that was back in 2009.

mthierry - it's really not that difficult. We would have to be offered a lot of money - in the region of £60-70mil to think about parting with Bale. He's young, still learning and crucial to how our team plays. What bit of that is difficult for you to get your head around?
Oxlaide-Chamberlain
Walcott
Gervinho
Korean fella
I understand your anger and frustration but maybe try to hide it a bit better!!
It was 80 million Hod

Oh...was it?
Bale is worth about 50m to be realistic, Luka about the same. Once Bale becomes more of a regular goal scorer then watch his value increase
Sorry to change the subject but what would walcott be worth now? £7m at a stretch?
I hear you Teddy, but if we got an offer for £50m I genuinely believe we'd turn it down.
Nani in Man Utd is a superior footballer to Bale. How much exactly do you think he'll cost. I'm not one of the Gooners who'll prattle on about how overrated Bale is because I rate him but you're insane if you think he'll cost anything close to that.
Probably right Tommy. But if any team is gonna offer a lot more, say £70m, I think Levy would find that hard to refuse. Every player has their price u guess, £70m is a lot more than our Bale is worth

And for mthierry's next gag...
mthierry - how do you define what a player is worth. The only relevant way with Bale is what we'd actually accept for him. And as mentioned a few times already, that would have to be £60m plus. He's on a long contract, he's v young, and we'd never replace him. Simples!
