£60M? For Bale?

...A player is rated on his value to the buying club and the compensation for the loss to the club he is contracted to, so to compensate for Bales contract (which has 4 years to run?) has to be around £50 - 60M and he would fit into any team in the world (barring possibly Barca / Madrid)....fibreglass had how long on his contract before he could have walked for free?

I agree Bale has not reached his peak yet, but I think most Spurs fans would acknowledge that. I just don't think the comparisons between him and Nani are fair to be honest, Nani is more experienced by a few years and Bale yet to peak. But given a choice of which player I'd choose to play on the Spurs flank, is personally choose Bale as he has so much to offer the team and is getting better each year. Nani looks promising at times but then ends up looking like a Ronaldo wannabe in a number of games after.

How's that a p1ss poor point? Bale is seen as one of the best left wingers about, with many acknowledging him as potential world class, there if Nani is seen as "far superior" means Nani, to you, is class. To me Ronaldo is world class, so the point I'm making is Nani to me is no way as good as you make him out to be

Will someone please tell me how much Walcott is worth?

Dec - I'll give you the dust in the bottom corner of my Monster Munch packet for Walcott.

On 2nd thoughts...the dust is the best bit

I'll take it......

Throw in Gervinho as well and I'd say that's about fair

There's nothing poor about my points. I rate Di Maria far ahead of Bale but I'd not value him anywhere close to the mega star and mega brand value of Cristiano Ronaldo which is your insane insinuation by saying Bale is worth £70m.
Pls, quit smoking that stuff.

To be fair I think Johnson (liverpool RB) screwed up Lennons England career by always getting in the way. He might have a chance if Walker can make the right back positon his own.

Walcott stinks, he is worth no
more than 10 million at today's
rates.
The only reason he gets in ahead
of Lennon is because he plays for
a Sky/Phil McNulty Top 4 team.
Notice how as soon as Phil Jones
puts on a Utd shirt he walks into
the England team. This is where
England have gone wrong since
Venables 96
---------

I agree Walcott stinks but he makes the England team because Lennon stinks a lot more.

OK mthierry I asked you before, but you chose to ignore it, so hear we go again: how much do you think Bale's worth? I'm guessing by your criticisms that you'd say around £20-25m (please correct me if I'm wrong).

So how does this figure relate to the real world if we simply wouldn't sell him for that?

I think the mistake you're making is trying to give him a rating (ie 8.5/10, 6/10 etc) but using a £sign.

Fair play you don't think he's a 10/10...neither do I (yet). But he is worth whatever other clubs will pay for him and even more importantly WHAT WE WOULD SELL HIM FOR!!

PS - I thinkI have said 60m not 70m

At times I would say Lennon was
a headless chicken but I
would never say he stunk.
Walcott stinks though trust
me on this one mthierry. We
bought Bale, you bought Walcott
------

Yeah, and we bought Bergkamp while you bought Rebrov. We can play this game all day. Lennon IS a headless chicken and it says a lot about how poor he is when he can't start ahead of a joke like Walcott.

I still can't stop laughing at the claim that that Bale is valued at close to Ronaldo's worth.

£46m wow, but Harry has spent a fair few quid so Spurs should be up there really......want Berba back???? How about £10 and a packet of skittles?? Fair price I think!

Bale is a lot closer to Ashley Young or Valencia's worth than Ronaldo. Barcelona or Madrid could never pay more than £35m for Bale although some Sheikh or Russian tycoon with more money than sense may think different.

We don't want to sell
We don't need to sell
He doesn't want to leave
He's on a long contract
These are to be considered
before his talent is assessed.
So how much is to be offered to
make Levy take the call?
--------

Okay let's apply this to Ronaldo:
Man utd didn't want to sell
Man Utd didn't need to sell
Ronaldo (until 2008) claimed he didn't want to leave (like Modric, Fabregas and a whole host of players)
Ronaldo was on a long lucrative contract.

You can add to the above his incredible success at all levels in Man utd, the larger-than-life status of Man Utd, his great individual profile, his Beckham like brand value etc and we can see why Bale would command nothing close to Ronaldo's fee.

Like I said before though, you'll only get something obscene for him if City or Chelsea buy him and I believe those 2 would max out at £40-£45m. Madrid and Barca would spend £30+m on him.

If the player agrees to a move, those Spanish clubs can play dirty and arm-twist the club like they did with Ronaldo and Cesc.
