Chicken

Still no response to my comment earlier.

Arsenal lose to United
Newcastle draw at Fulham
Liverpool win against Bolton

The league table looks something like this

5 Liverpool 21 38
6 Newcastle 21 37
7 Arsenal 21 36

Eh look at that, we've 'leapfrogged' two of the teams that we couldn't. The impossible dream has been achieved people.

Or, league places don't count for as much as you make out Chicken. It can all change in 90 minutes.

Have you never heard the term 'climbing the table'? Its what happens when teams go on a good run. Did you know that at least once in the history of football, a team has climbed more that 3 places within the space of 17 games. Now sit down Chicken, I know it's a devastating shock to you...

Spurs win.
City lose.
United draw.

1 Man City 22 51
2 Man Utd 22 49
3 Tottenham 22 49

LOOK AT THE VAST DIFFERENCE IN PLACING!!!!!!!

Fred Bassett,

Can you do a table assuming City lose, Man Utd win, Spurs win, Chelsea win, Arsenal lose, Newcastle win, Stoke win & Liverpool lose?

Cheers.

red_man23 - he's ignoring my comments as well now - I think we can take that to mean we're right!

You're not allowed to do 'ifs and buts' Chicken. Your league table theory won't allow it.

Can we assume Chicken is doing a Devonshire?

Anyway, it doesn't matter what the results are, the table won't change. Right Chicken?

According to you, Liverpool can only gain on teams but no-one is allowed to gain on them - isnt that how "your league table" works?

Not that you believe in league tables, of course. I mean, what do they mean/stand for eh? Silly FA, UEFA & FIFA.

'doing a Devonshire' - will it become as popular a phrase as An Shambles?

AGAIN CHICKEN - the league is not a sterile environment where only the numbers in the columns matter - form, squad, confidence, run in all play a part - My god man, please get this simple concept, you're driving me 'Chicken'

posted on 19/1/12

I believe in one league table only, the final one. Not the 'Chicken' one, that deems all bets to be off in january. Nothing wrong with having confidence in your team, what sort of fan would I be if I entertained the idea of finishing 8th? I'd be a lame defeatist, just like you. Of course, its not absolutely impossible that we could finish 8th, I am just convinced it won't happen.

As i say, can you do a league table on my scenario too - just to balance it, like?

Chicken

What scenario?

At least the Spurs are giving us some new phrases - 'doing a Chicken', or 'he's done a Devonshire'. What about combining them into 'Devonshire Chicken'!

======================

I hate to break it to you but in my lifetime, and i imagine in the foreseeable future, the champions league positions, whether it be 4, 3, 2 or 1 team(s), will be awared to the teams with the bigger numbers "in the columns" as you put it.

Liverpool, nor anyone else will be awarded a higher league position & subsequently a CL spot, on the basis of form, or anything else.

I think this is maybe where you are going wrong.

Incidently, Liverpool's form is "7th best" at the moment - so you can take what scoring chart you want, it doesnt change a thing, laddie!!

Ah you mean the scenario you asked Fred Bassett to do for you. Why can't you do it yourself?

I've out my argument forward, you can do your own .

posted on 19/1/12

Again, you're stating that the league table won't change. Do teams never go on a run of results that see them move more than three places up the table?

'..... the teams with the bigger numbers "in the columns" as you put it.'

'Liverpool, nor anyone else will be awarded a higher league position & subsequently a CL spot, on the basis of form, or anything else.'

Listen to yourself you ****, *^%£@# fool. We still have games to be played. Games where points are awarded. Pointed that are then added to the CURRENT table. Therefore it is sensible to predict where said points will be given and where said teams will end up when ALL GAMES HAVE BEEN PLAYED!!!!!!!! Just as YOU have been doing! You have all but admited that you think the current table will noty change .

This thread is going to go down in history - you have certainly made a name for yourself in the past few day - not sure what that name is, but i'm sure you wouldn't like it!

I knew you wouldn't do it, i only suggested it as a kind of test. A test that concluded exactly as i expected. And that is neither you, nor anyone else on this board will ever consider the possibility that you will lose points. And this sums up this whole debate.

Lolalty is good but you also have to be realistic in football. You's cant.

That saying about the only way is up, well, its just a saying to make people down in the dumps feel better - its not a fact.

But you said we shouldn't take any notice of the numbers in the table.

You either do or you dont.

Again, either way, you are still 7th - not 4th.

Seriously this is the lamest thread ever!!!

Chicken you're being an idiot just shut up and cut your losses!!!!

posted on 19/1/12

we'll probably finish 5th

but if we keep up the same form we've had this season and stop missing penalites, 4th is a very realistic possibility
