I'm not saying he was the player he once was, but using his worst ever stats for a season, that are not even current, is a bit silly.
And you know it.

Very happy with Suarez and Bellamy
=======================
So you slate Defoe's stats, whose are better than Bellamy or Suarez, but then say you're "very happy".
You should team up with Mancini & call yourselves "The Hypocrites".

I am pretty sure that due to the add-ons not being triggered that the end deal for both clubs was even for Keane. That is what i read in the papers and a few Spurs fans have said to me anyway.
As for Defoe, no way in hell! He is 29 (nearly 30) and hardly playing for Spurs so his match fitness will not be great. Why would we want a player that cannot get in the first team of another club unless it was for some pitiful amount like £4m.
I will probably get slated for this but I would rather go for Kalou for the £3m that is being mentioned. He is 3 years younger than Defoe and if it did not work out then he would still have a better resale value. The good thing about Kalou is he is a great sub to bring on as I think most of his goals have come from the bench when the opposition is tiring. He is not a first 11 player (as he is quite lazy for 90mins) but could be a good option from the bench to help turn these pesky draws into wins.
I'd easy rather get Kalou!! He's a better player

The God Fowler,
Did you really just say this:
"As for Defoe, no way in hell! He is 29 (nearly 30) and hardly playing for Spurs so his match fitness will not be great"
And then this:
"would rather go for Kalou".
Sounds like you'd be a perfect addition on Mancini & redconn's team as well.
Fred - are you related to Bertie?

Each of my statements was correct, was it not?
Did you read my reasons? Quite valid wouldn't you say?

Not really I used last seasons stats, if i went back to 2008 that would be silly. If you want to prove someones inconsistant you compare there current form with there past form
at the end of the day Spurs wouldn't be upset to lose him and we wouldn't be excited to get him.
We need a sub with pace and if we can do it on the cheap then why not.
Bertie Bassett...?

Yes, you claimed you would rather Kalou (the bit part player) because Defoe is a bit part player.
Makes perfect sense.

Kalou has always been a bit part player, a super sub as they say. That is the exact reason that I wouldn't mind him at Liverpool. Defoe would want to be in the first team if he moved and I do not believe him to be good enough anymore (not getting in your 1st team proves that).
The God Fowler,
So you're after a super sub?
8M sounds about right, but i cant see Spurs seling to us unless its about 15M ish!!! Why would they sell to Liverpool when we are competing with top 4 with them?
People are running away with this spurs title talk, the table is a bit skewed; they could easily lose to City and we beat Bolton and they are then 8 points in front having to go to Anfield, Arsenal, Everton and Chelsea and playing Utd at the lane as well.
As i said, its a bit early all this spurs talk.
Why would they sell to Liverpool when we are competing with top 4 with them?

Exactly my original point, albeit expressed in a few more words with syllables and stuff.. seriously we're light on strikers anyway and we're not going to get a better replacement in January.

Don't think your top 4 material though so not really competition for us anymore
Your guess is as good as mine redconn but I haven't heard about any bids coming in, and he's hardly sold himself with his Europa performances
I think this would be Robbie Keane all over again....

So you're after a super sub?

Why not? If Utd did not have Solskjaer for all those years coming on and getting vital goals do you think they would have won so many trophies?
We seem to batter teams for most of the game but can't find the breakthrough needed and I think a 'Super Sub' is just what we need. Kalou knows the league and is used to sitting on the bench and coming on to score goals. For £3m I don't think you can go wrong over £10m+ for Defoe.

People are running away with this spurs title talk
====================
I do agree, to a degree (and i'm a poet...).
Anyway, whilst we were 3pts off the top, the discussion about our title chances had to be discussed. And why not? But i do feel we'll feel short as the season progresses.
As for Liverpool being rivals for 4th spot, this simply isn't true. Liverpool are just as close to 8th as they are 4th. Our rivals for 4th are just Chelsea & Arsenal.
The reason Harry would not sell Defoe on the cheap is because he is a quality player, who will always score goals at this level. And the only way he would let him go (for £15-£20m) is if we have a ready replacement in before hand.
