he did buy Chelsea in 1982 correct, they were in debt at the time... thats why he got them so cheap, in effect he bought debt.

Ridsdale had quality players and didnt need to buy like he did, but to be fair I think Bates wouldve sold all them and we would be where we are now just he would have a bigger mansion

Hes not a good businessman he budgets for 22k average per season and no cup runs or TV money but relies on selling our best players to make a profit even though we got 27k average and had cup runs!!

I don't see how people can still say we are paying for the Ridsdale era when the debt has apparently gone and we are being run by someone else and "apparently" running well.

LIW... seriously think about it... if Ridsdale had thought (as Bates would have done) no I won't buy Robbie Fowler, Seth Johnson etc etc... and hadn't borrowed money on the pretense of getting to the CL, would have we been in the stuck like we were wehn Bates took over?
