Tbh, I didnt want to see you fold, but there was no sympathy, not because your leeds or anything, but because it was bought on by yourselves and over spending and miss management.
See, the thing is Man Utd are our biggest rivals, that's already been proven by one of my polls, but we are their third-biggest rivals, so I doubt the feeling would've been reciprocated.

stretty I agree with that, and it is this belief that I am not part of the Bates out callers.... after the Ridsdale era I think we NEED to keep hold of a sensible budget
I wouldnt want any club to fold, but Leeds are on my radar about as much as Port Vale are.
Its only Leeds fans who promote this ancient short lived rivalry to try and make out they are on our level.
Leeds are United's third biggest rivals? Forgive me if I'm being silly but I would say at the moment the following are much bigger rivals:-
Liverpool
Chelsea
Arsenal
Manchester City
Possibly Spurs
Am I missing something?
and we wonder why other fans call us deluded
Question for Man U fans. When Leeds were in administration, did you want to see us fold or were there feelings of sympathy?
__________________________________________
I didn't have sympathy, they got what they deserved to an extent, although you have to feel for fans in that situation. But I never like to see any club fold, only a fool would enjoy the demise of a football club.
Celtic fans are being plums in this situation, I don't think they have thought through the repercussions of what may happen to them, a 2 horse league is one thing, a once horse race? Nobody wants to see that, sponsors and such are going to pay them less ect.
I have a few friends that are Man U fans. They would agree that after Liverpool and City, Leeds are in and around Arsenal, Chelsea etc, not because of league stature but as previously said in my article, history and geographic terms.
I don't want to see any club fold, there's the livelihood of more than just players at stake.
However I would like to see some clubs suffer a bit! Just for a wheeze!
The best way for them to suffer is by our team being better than them in competition!
We've had the lows, it's time we started having a few highs again.
I saw it as a huge shock. Leeds were the team I enjoyed watching the most, as they were filled with quality young players and Harry Kewell who was amazing until he came to us of course.
Sympathy? No.
But, I want Leeds to get back into the Premier League so we can start playing each other again. It's always sweeter to beat a club that you've real history with - football's built on ancient rivalry. The obvious comparison is with City: sure it was funny watching them scramble around in League 1 but it's more exciting battling them for the title.
If them teams are Man Utd's rivals, then that's almost as ridiculous as saying West Ham, Southampton, Reading, etc are our rivals. Decades of rivalry don't just go away because of a few years away in another division. We haven't been in the same division as Bradford for over 10 years, but I still consider them our biggest local rivals.
Leeds are still big rivals, as proven in recent history they provide great atmospheres and good occasions, when they make it back into the PL (or if) the rivaly will be in full flow again.
I don't think that any true football fan wants to see another team, irrespective of the rivalry. I suspect the ones that would like to see their rivals go under are the same ones that go to football for the scrap.
In terms of Leeds being our rivals, I would put them at third after Liverpool and City. Arsenal may have been up there for a few seasons, but have dropped away of late. Chelsea never came into the equation really. Too much history between Leeds and United to just forget because they are having a few barren years. They will be back and United fans will welcome them back. I'd rather be playing Leeds twice a year than not.
Elvis.
By the way, I thought In the Ghetto was a great tune!

Forgiven, you are possibly referring to this season, the article is talking big picture.
Newwayneorder suggests by his comments that he has no history, ie about 16 years old.
Being slightly older myself, I can recall some seriously tasty encounters both on and off the pitch that makes the packaged product today seem sterile and unappetising (a bit like a pre-packaged prawn sandwich).
To suggest we are rivals in a footballing sense atm is ridiculous, but I do a lot of travelling on both sides of the Pennines and most of 'their' fans that I know, would love to see us back up there! With the old shirt front that we have as a chairman, I fear its just a pipe dream!

I was talking recently. From reading comments here, it has been realised that United still consider you rivals and the time apart hasn't been long enough, to destroy that.

I'd love to see Man Utd brought down a peg or three, or four, five or six...but no-one wants to see a club disappear.
Also the uncertainty felt un the summer of 2007 was a real low ebb. Wouldn't wish it on anyone. Maybe not even the Man Utd fans.
As far as the rivalry goes, there is definitely an extra buzz between LUFC and MUFC fixtures.
Look at it this way: both clubs sold out their away ticket allocations for our two most recent fixtures.
I'm a United fan living in Bradford, working in Leeds, and have been to Valley Parade a fair few times as well. As you can imagine, Leeds fans don't take to me too well.
But at the same time though, I still have a want for them to get promoted, despite how much jip I get off their fans. I love the rivalry, and the matches we won a lot of in the premiership years, but only just mostly. They were fierce battles and high quality games.
