Cherry Bomb, Tyler's new album is good

Dunno too much about Ice Cube as a solo artist tbh Sideshow, but love NWA.

Ice Cubes solo albums up to and including The Predator are classics.

Will give them a listen on spotify then.

I still haven't even got around to listening to each individual member of Wu-Tang's albums. Will start with RZA as he is the best, then move onto Rae as he comes second.

If you haven't listened to any of their solo albums I suggest you start with
Liquid Swords - GZA
Only Built For Cuban Links - Raekwon
Ironman - Ghostface

The RZA solo albums rate quite low on the individual projects list tbh.

That's surprising, I assumed that cos RZA produced the majority of the songs he would be the most successful externally.

Personally think his solo albums are a bit too experimental and weird, tbh.
For my tastes his best productions are the three albums above.
If I was to listen a RZA album I would pick The Gravediggaz album above any of his actual solo albums.

Not to say they are bad albums, of course.

Fair enough, I am have been re-making my way through Black Thought's stuff. I would have him Dre & Q-tip as my top 3 rappers of all time.

It is hard to chose individuals, tbh, as all of my favourite albums are by groups, or individuals from groups whose solo albums have a lot of group influence. Also I don't think there are many who have a long career filled with consistantly good albums. For instance Illmatic is one of the best albums ever, imo, but Nas has put out a few bad albums as well. Snoop started off with an amazing album, but has had loads of mediocre efforts.

If I had to chose 3 I guess I would pick...
Ghostface Killah (most consistant in quality solo career out of the Wu)
Andre 3000 (slightly beats his partner in rhyme, but is close)
B.I.G. (think he has got a great flow, lyrically clever with good humour. Only two real albums to judge him on though).

If you were judging it only on their work within their group, at their best
Kurupt (outshone everyone on Death Row)
Inspectah Deck (most of his verses on the group albums are standouts)
Ice Cube (before the movies took priority)

Favourite groups,
Wu
OutKast
Pharcyde

My favourite groups are probably the same. Honourable mention to ATCQ, Black Star and Roots.

To make up a top ten I would include...

NWA
The Roots
The Juice Crew (Marley Marl, Big Daddy Kane, MC Shan, Biz Markie, Masta Ace, Tragedy Khadafi, Kool G Rap etc.)
D.I.T.C (Big L, OC, Show and AG, Fat Joe, Lord Finesse)
Boot Camp Clik (Buckshot, Smith n Wessun, OGC, Heltah Skeltah)
Native Tongues (ATCQ, De La, Jungle Bros, Queen Latifah)
The Dogg Pound (inc Snoop, Nate, Soopafly, Lady of Rage)

A bit of cheating, I guess, but

No Goodie Mobb?

Ah, I was counting them in the Dungeon Family - so put them with OutKast.

Andre 3000 or Dr Dre? I'm pretty sure I know the answer but I just wanted to be sure.

Andre, Godlee.

DJ, its somehow a lot more difficult to rate rap groups than it is albums or even rappers, because they miss so frequently. Take Prodigy for example, their early stuff was insane, The Infamous is one of the greatest all-time rap albums. Yet their new stuff is laughable.
