Musically I never really enjoy listening to Lupe. Respect him and acknowledge he is a good mc though.
Saying that the song you posted i quite liked.
----
I kinda agree, musically I haven't really liked anything since The Cool but to my understanding of what being lyrical is I don't think anyone is close to him, at least mainstream wise anyway.
worldplay and use of different lexicon while making sense and telling a story?
-----
Yeah I couldn't argue with that but is it more lyrical if the worldplay is more complex? Is it more lyrical if there's more syllables?
Syllables no...complex most definately if it still makes sense and...is still good to listen too. Will again refer u to the last 20 second or so of the best friend verse but there's so many examples. I like to rap so nothing better than back in my clubbing days being able to nail a complex verse to a banger
The Life of Pablo is a great album. I am a Kanye stan, to be honest.
But it's probably 4th or 5th in his discog, after LR, MBDTF, Yeezus and possibly 808s.
808s & Yeezus has got to be 2 of his worst albums.
Interesting readback. Weird to see benny getting on his high horse about other peoples rap taste; its like a midget calling a dwarf small.
Kendrick's performance at the grammy's was so good. I understand peoples issues with him. I think he is sloppy in the fact that he tries too many different voices, and different experiments ('u' being a classic example). Yet, How Much a Dollar Cost is a modern classic, and other songs like King Kunta, BTB etc.
Lets forget his versus on Bad Blood
RE Kanye, I don't think he has produced much since graduation that I have liked. (Watch the Throne aside)
FOR KENDRICK ALBUMS HAVE TO MUCH GOING ON.. (OVER PRODUCED)..AND HE JUST SEEMS TO JUMP FROM ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER ON ALOT OF TRACKS.....
How much a dollar cost is too corny and WOW what a surprise...a beggar turned out to be god
I like Kendrick...but dude does make some bad moves...even if it is experimenting.
The voice thing works at certain times...he needs to know when to do it though. Like U was atrocious...but Hood Politics is a banger. He needs to find that balance.
Also Blacker the Berry...the song and lyrics itself is so powerful he didnt need that aggression in his voice to portray the message.
Nah its not too corny, even lyrics aside the beat is awesome and his flow is properly on point. The god ending was maybe unnecessary but the message came off well.
I'd love to get an instrumental version of the album.
The For Free interlude beat is nothing short of musical art. Even the U beat is great but cant stand the song because of the rapping.
I can't find an available link to his Fallon performance though.
I watched it on Youtube.
The song is cool.
I think the internet called it Blue Faces
His Colbert Report song was fantastic. As was this (link to Fallon performance, good enough quality): https://soundcloud.com/damonhorton/kl-untitled-2-enhanced-by-grand-pappy-twig
Been taken down on youtube. Saw it called 'Untitled 2'.
. If he has songs of that quality in the vault imagine what he has in store for the next LP.
Im intrigued to see what direction he takes on a new album. He's done story-telling and a 'musical' album.
Im not sure what to class OD & Section80 as.

Mad corny. I can understand the message behind the song, not that i need a song to tell me how to treat people, strangers or even beggars, but to end it God just reduced it corniness.
He could've made it a distant family member or an old friend that made wrong choices or something like that and the song wouldve held more water.
He could even make it one of the gang bangers from GKMC and the song wouldve made a lot more sense...but God is just fantasy stuff...similar to Rick Ross bragging about dealing coke and being a billionaire.

God is just fantasy stuff?
Really? Some of the best rap music has been written with a god/biblical influence? Admittedly it was a bit cheap, but I don't think it reduces the whole song to corniness, especially considering it is only near the end and it allows the sick Isley brothers sample to be played.
