United won there in the FA Cup in January. What's the problem?

posted on 16/4/12

Bit premature, both teams have games next weekend that could set different priorities over how the 2 teams approach the game and boths sides could lose vital players through injury or suspension.

play the team we played against villa.

or suffer and lose like we did to wigan

How is Carrick slow? I admit he isn't very pacey but he can still run good.

Boris, City's priorities are pretty straight forward, they have to win all their games from here, I doubt united will slip up against Everton but even then City cant play for a draw even if united drop points.

As for uinited if City lose to wolves they can afford a lose but cant see fergie settiung up a team to lose, do you!

At Arab, it wasnt meant to be a dig at Carrick, its just that the 2 players I mentioned Yaya and nasri are considerably faster than Carrick.I would love to hear your thoughts on how Fergie would set up his team for the game

Well I don't think we'll line up 4-4-2, although that formation in the FA cup did win the game against them during January. I think a 4-2-3-1 will be played which would be good enough for us, Carrick and Scholes as the holding mids and Welbeck or Berba up front with Rooney in the #10 role. Valencia and Nani on the wings, doesn't look bad and it might pay off.

City will be going all out for a win whatever happens next weekend but United may be in a position to be a little more cautious if the results have gone their way.

Fergie will start 2 up front - Dowd & Webb with Chris Foy playing just behind.

the 1-6 reverse at Old Trafford, probably the most astonishing result I can think of in recent memory.

I think putting Eight past arsenal is up there.

btw if Fergie plays Giggs in the middle in this game expect to ship another 6. If he plays 'trump card' Berbatov in CMF in this game I will be gobsmacked

You mean like Fulham and Sunderland at the council house?

I think utds best form of defense will be attack and out wide, especially playing on the break is still the best way to expose our weak points. We will more than likely set up with this team
-------------------------Hart---------------------------
Richards---Kompany-----Lescott---Clichy--
-------------de Jong---------Barry-------------
------------------------yaya------------------------
-------------Tevez --------------Silva-------
------------------------Aguero---------------------

Personally I hope you keep Scholes on the bench and play Giggs in a 2 in midfield please

posted on 16/4/12

I don't think Giggs will be starting anymore of our games, rest of our season is one game a week now so Scholes will get alot of rest before each game unlike the 3 day period between QPR and Wigan games. Giggs can be a good impact sub.

giggs played in the middle at eastlands in january and we outplayed you.

Why ruin an article with people actually debating on?

It's going to be a great occasion, but in regard to the OP, I think the ghosts of the 6-1 were got rid of when we won there in the cup.

Once you were playing 10 men you did Ole,well for the rest of the first half
Then you got a thorough chasing in the second half
Not like you to have lapses in memory Ole

Is there any point relying on Wolves next week to do United a favour? I can see another 6-1 drubbing there by City to be honest.

I think SAF will go 4-4-2, usual suspects at the back and on the wings with Carrick (he HAS to play) and probably Scholes, Rooney dropping deep with Hernandez up top, i think the little Mexican will get the nod over Welbeck, although the 1-6 was a strange result i think the next game will be much tighter and a half chance may just decide it for us, hence the inclusion of Chica.

now you are dreaming. united created twice as many chances as city in the second half and had kolarov's assault on valencia in the box resulted in the penalty it should have done we'd have hit double figures. city's goals that day came from a free kick which should never have been awarded and where our reserve keeper was beaten at his near post and their second came after we gave away possession. apart from a couple more chances from set pieces in stoppage time city were never in the game and united coudn't have been more comfortable.

wolves have already rolled over twice for city this season and have long since given up on survival. in short, there's more chance of the next pope being protestant.
