mad men is obtuse nostalgic fantasy that shouldn't be even mentioned in the same breath as sopranos. Other far better shows off the top of my head, the wire, rome, the borgias, the west wing, spaced, luck, boardwalk empire x
the wire is another very good shout to be fair.
I wouldn't say Mad Men is the best thing on TV but I've watched it right from the brginning and enjoy it.

Not taste?! Merlin has less funding than your average primary school production of the nativity and Big Bang Theory is about as funny as getting a cold sore.

The BBC aren't as rich as the yanks, and they're going through money problems Bean It's still a great show, but I'm also a big Potter fan which is partly why I like it coz of the genre similarities
Prison Break - Now there was a programme.
If the BBC are having money troubles why do they persist in funding some of the carp on BBC3 and why have they started an Xfactor spin off which must cost a bomb to pay those three talentless oiks (plus the legend that is Tom Jones) to make appearences?
Sherlock is BBC and that's class.
