Only your fans think Vidic is the best defender in the world and why should a GK that cost a record transfer fee be looked at as a disadvantage, it was no surprise that VDS was retiring so you went out and and bought a goalkeeper who cost more than the entire Norwich team.

Plonker, De Gea isn't a disadvantage in the slightest, he had a bedding in period but that was expected.

Don't forget some of the fortunes you lot have wasted on the likes of Santa Crus, Dzeko, Balotelli and on and on.

As for Vidic, it was pretty much universally accepted that he was the best defender in the PL until his injury, we will see how he returns.

Universally?
Really?
Torres treated him like a muppet not long ago,has he improved that much in a couple of years?

For someone who expounds the use of the English language, it seems you only have a slight grasp on the comprehension of it yourself. One of YOUR fans hinted that De Gea had been a liability whilst I said he shouldn't have been at that price.

vidic had one ropey game against liverpool three years ago and the general consensus from know nothings has been that he's a weak link ever since. he's far and away the best centre back in the league and i woudn't swap him for any other in europe.

Doris if you are referring to me then my point was this season we have brought in a 20 year old to replace VDS, for the first half of the season he cost us points and we didn't have a proper number 1 goal keeper as Anders and DDG were both rotated, so bringing in a new keeper was a problem for us in the first half of the season.

Didn't any of your management team realise that VdS was 40 until he handed in his shock resignation.

posted on 17/4/12

Its obviously not easy to replace one of the best keepers in the league, are you mentally slow?

posted on 17/4/12

Yes, yes I am. In my stupidty I thought a professional football club would have been blooding a replacement for a goalkeeper who was in his late 30's rather than going out to buy one when he retires.

That's not very pleasant

de gea was a long term traget who had been watched several times. perhaps it would have been wiser to have signed him up before the start of last season and had him learn from van der sar whilst playing the occasional cup game. in actual fact, he wasn't helped by not playing on a consistent basis in the opening couple of months of the season and the fact that the back four in front of him were constantly chopped and changed due to injuries. it's no coincidence that his best form has come since he's had a regular first team place and evans and ferdinand have formed a partnership in front of him.

I think United were right in buying DDG when they did. I am glad he got another year of regular football before replacing VDS instead of sitting on the bench most of the seaon and playing a game every now and then.

Thought him not being able to see was more of a factor?

That is the point I was trying to make to your thick friends.

Losing Vidic was unfortunate but calling him the 'Best defender in the World' is a bit sweeping as there are better full-backs out there than him.

posted on 17/4/12

Doris, what is wrong with you? There are very few class full backs in the world and if you think any of them are better DEFENDERS then Vidic or most other CBs then you need to stop watching football.

posted on 17/4/12

Maybe I should, if Full Backs are no longer classed as DEFENDERS then the game's changed out of all recognition since I last played.

posted on 17/4/12

I am aware full backs are defenders you plank but you are saying there are full backs who are better then Vidic when it comes to defending!?!? Who are these full backs? I wouldn't be surprised if you listed Alves as one of them

posted on 17/4/12

I wont surprise you then as it wouldn't be a surprise.

Is that your way of admitting Vidic was the best defender in the world before his injury?

posted on 17/4/12

I'd rather have Vincent Kompany at City than Vidic.

posted on 17/4/12

you missed out, "at current, because vidic is injured."

posted on 17/4/12

No it isn't. If you'd said Vidic was the best CB in the Premier League and one of the best in the World then I wouldn't argue with you.

What's more important though is Corrie!! Just as I was getting over the shock of discovering that Betty Turpin (RIP) was the Mother of the Everton chairman, we were then flabbergasted to learn that the (real) David Platt was actually Tommy's Dad.

No not at all, last season they both had superb seasons, not much to pick between Kompany, who we have only played at CB for a couple of seasons, and the alleged 'best cb in the world' - in fact I would argue Kompany had the better season as he spent less time on the sidelines through suspension.

Given that there isn't much to pick between the two, I'd go for VK who is class on the pitch, class off the pitch, and is only 26, Vidic on the other hand is 30.

posted on 17/4/12

How many games did Vidic miss last season? And Vidic had the better season hence why he was the best CB in the world before his injury. Him and Rooney were the main reasons why we won the league last year. I think in a couple of years Kompany will be the best in the world, but I think he will be in competition with Ramos at Madrid and Silva at Milan. To say kompany is only 26 is shocking he has aged terribly

-------------------------------------------------

So you think the best cb in the world is based on one season? Both were in the PFA team of the year weren't they?

I'm not saying VK is the best in the world, I'm just saying comparing the respective age and talent of the two I'd rather have Vinny at City.

How many seasons has Vidic got left 'at the top' before he becomes the next Rio Ferdinand and played due to neccessity/sentiment rather than merit?

He was 26 last week but he looked older than Peter Reid when we bought him.
