Havertz showed real sustained examples of quality last season, but he also went missing not just from games, but from football seemingly for weeks on end.

Fair comment, but based on nothing but gut feeling I feel positive about him. Although I think Sterling is a poor finisher he probably brings much better movement in and around the box and could bond well with Havertz and Mount.

Whatever we think it does look like Havertz and Broja are going to be our number 9 options this season.
Presumably Tuchel might play Sterling in the false 9 role for some games as well. Especially if neither Havertz or Broja get the required numbers.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't really need either to get 'numbers' per se.
I'd be contend with Havertz scoring 10-12 PL goals IF he was contributing to the overall improved performance of the team and helping us win matches in other ways.
My guess is Sterling will likely be our TGS.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Numbers are what we need all our forwards to get more of this coming season. Last season our front line didn't score enough goals and unless we up our numbers then I suspect we'll face another struggle of a season.
Sterling definitely helps our cause in that regard but if Havertz especially and Broja aren't contributing a decent slice of the goals then I just hope that we're playing a system whereby both Mount and Gallagher play so that we can get goals from then too.

Can I assume then that we are not planning a direct replacement for Lukaku any time soon...?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well I am probably dreaming, but ihope Broja is the replacements
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You rate him Biggish ? Was watching Other Side of the Coin vid yesterday and he thinks he's still a bit green for us.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am the stage now where I would rather give players like Broja and Gilmour a chance till Jan and see how they do. We are not serious title contenders this season so nothing to lose.
I would expect Broja is a bit Green but let's see how he does. Gilmourfor me can rotate with Jorghi
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah I'd love to see this too although I doubt that Gilmour is in Tuchel's plans sadly.
Also I suspect that we'll have a very busy Jan transfer window based on needing more transfer activity and the fact that it will almost be like a summer window in that there will be a break after the World Cup in December.
The deadwood like Pulisic Cho Ziyech are gonna have to improve massively if they’re staying
We need lots of goals and assists from them next season
Kovacic and Jorginho are also going to have to improve their attacking output

You've seen them shoot...right
Kovacic attacking output has improved. He creates a long of chances and has put through our strikers on several occasions just for them to fluff their lines.
The goal he set up for lukaku was a prime example of the type of stuff he’s been doing for over a year now
I wouldn’t mind havertz not scoring bucketloads if he had good consistent matches.
I’ve rarely seen him have a good 90 minutes. Drogba was a long of bullying a back line for 90 minutes even if he didn’t score he massively impacted a game.
Havertz flitters in and out of games and although it should not be his position, if he is to be our number 9 he needs to start impacting games more.
His movement is good but we need to see more hold up, link up play and involvement in matches.
Hopefully with sterling off him we will be seeing some nice intricate play up top. An issue of ours other than when giroud played, is an inability to hold up the ball and relieve pressure when we are under the cosh.

Hmm...what we need is goalscoring to go up, that could be collectively.
Ideal world - sure Havertz gets 20 PL goals.
But he is not that sort of player and expecting that is futile.
Instead if everyone could bump their numbers by 2-3 goals that would suffice.
Hmm...what we need is goalscoring to go up, that could be collectively
------------------
Yeah that's what I just said.
You seemed to be implying we need them to become Harry Kanes
It'll be a massive achievement for our forwards if they can reach double figures in the league
My point is simply that our players, particularly our forwards are going to need to up their game in terms of goals, especially in the bread and butter competition that is the PL.
https://amp.sportsmole.co.uk/football/chelsea/2021-22/top-scorers.html
Only Mount scored more than 10 PL goals last season with 11 goals. That's simply not good enough.
Second highest were Havertz and Lukaku on 8. Werner and Ziyech only got 4 each. Pulisic not much better with 6. Cho got just 1.
These numbers aren't good enough for a team with PL aspirations and based on teams around us improving this summer those numbers might not even be good enough to get top four this coming season.
Yep, agree. Team has to up their game in front of goal collectively.
As we don't have that 20 goal striker, onus is on everyone to chip in. Similar to how City did last season with everyone getting their fair share of goals
