Is this the moment where Community Shields matter?

Hell yeah
Hilarious hearing a commentator who probably had t heard of Darwin Nunez in his life before this summer refer to him as a new alpha male in the PL lol
Just because he signed for Liverpool he’s a superstar, all so they can force a rivalry with Haaland who is miles clear. These people need to have some shame

She was gorgeous
It is interesting that the two players who weren’t on the US tour (Kante and RLC) were our best players in the two games. RLC played right wing back, and by the sounds of it (I didn’t watch the game), he was a marauding presence throughout. Whereas James who was right wing back in the game yesterday was not at his best - not quite up to speed yet. Do you think it’s worth trying RLC in the Everton game next weekend, and pushing James back to right centre back? Not the ideal position for either player, but it might be the best option in the short term?
It’s unlikely to happen, but just a thought.

If you're suggesting that - I'd just rest James, if he's not at his best (which he
Oppps sneezed a d hit enter
......which he hasn't been) and could do with a rest, and RLC can do a better job than other players we got, though will give a shout out to CHO who was pretty solid yesterday, then I am all for that. But imo no need to play RJ in this case, give him a rest.
RJ needs a rest from what? Haven't these lot just had a break
Probably not at his sharpest but it'll come with match time, no need to rest one of our most creative players for the start of the season lol
But yeah later on in the season when RJ does need a break or rotation kicks in then RLC/Cho are options at RWB.
Especially if we're not going in the market to buy a specific backup in this position
Weird that we’ve still only signed two players. And no real reliable rumours about any further signings, it’s like they’ve all gone “fk it, cba” lol
Nobody needs a rest, Simon. They need more game time to get fit. That’s especially true for Chilwell, but also James it seems. It’s just hearing that RLC was MoM today made me think that he is currently ready for the Everton game, whereas James might not be quite there yet. So perhaps putting him in the right centre back position will help him to get match fit, but not put as much pressure on him as the wingback position - which requires a lot more running.
And I don’t really care about dropping Azpi (who was right centre back yesterday), as he’s probably leaving anyway.

It does seem like we’ll be using RLC/CHO/Azpi as backup RWBs again. Otherwise would have surely signed someone already.

Looks like we're trying to get rid off a few atm - Barkley, Ziyech, Bats, Kepa.
Don't even know who's available that's actually worth going for and also more importantly wants to come.
So hard to get rid off our lot because of their absurd wages
Need to just go all in for one of Skriniar/Fofana.
After that I don’t really care but another attacker would be nice, and necessary if we manage to shift one or two.

Skriniar is another one who would prefer somewhere else, he's waiting for PSG.
I think Fofana is a huge risk for 80 million, just returning from a similar injury as Chilwell so I'm not keen.
Talks are underway between Chelsea and Napoli over a loan move for Kepa Arrizabalaga and an agreement is expected to be reached in the coming days.

Think we'll need a backup keeper as well now.
Fofana played about 12 full matches out of 16 after coming back from his injury in March with no further problems so far, when I found that out I felt a lot less worried about it.
Skriniar wanting PSG over anyone else isn’t really backed up by reliable sources is it?
Looks like Werner is off to Leipzig on loan. If we shift Ziyech as well, then we'll need another forward.
Another CB is a must. And WB cover not far behind considering James' and Chilwell's injury issues last season.
Will be very disappointed if we hold onto Azpi and Alonso simply to spite Barca. Neither good enough and frankly letting Barca give them huge contracts would be a great move.
Yeah I think we need to let Azpi and Alonso go even if just to force us into signing better players as back ups, they aren’t good enough at WB

Seems people missed my point - let me try to re iterate: why do we need to shoe horn James into the team as RCB? If he's not playing well enough and RLC or CHO is playing better? Just it. And it feels like he was rushed back from injury hence never really regaining the form of the start of last season. So maybe rest is the wrong word, but it seems he hasn't been given sufficient time to fully recover because he didn't have any cover that TT trusted
