Would rather keep Ampadu given how light we are at CB
Fabrizio Romano in last hour:
Levi Colwill has not been given an official squad number as he will leave Chelsea to join Brighton, part of the Cucurella deal. Possible loan but it’s matter of details - he’ll join Brighton. 🔵 #CFC
Tbf I don’t mind a Colwill loan to Brighton. Follows in same way as everyone else who smashed out a Championship loan, he’ll come back into our squad either ready to be fully trusted or from his own perspective could probably back a move to wherever he wants.
Barcelona want Marcos Alonso as soon as possible. Talks ongoing on clubs side to find way with Chelsea, Alonso’s priority target since May and already agreed personal terms with Barça months ago 🚨🔵 #FCB
Alonso hopes to Chelsea to leave this summer due to personal reasons.
VAMOOOOS
Loan would be alright if it would help sign Cucurella but I’d still rather keep him

Feels like people are completely forgetting how our season completely fell apart when Alonso and Azpi became our first choice wingbacks.
Wingbacks are such an important position in a 3atb system. Keeping hold of an ageing Azpi because he's a "body" at wingback is essentially giving up before the season has even started. What happens if James is out for 1/2 months? Is anyone here comfortable with Azpi starting for that length of time because I'm certainly not.
Also Tuchel started to rely less and less on Azpi at RCB as last season went on. He still has decent positioning but his physicality is definitely waning. The difference between James and Azpi playing RCB is like night and day.
Honestly really disappointed that we've kept him. Was an opportunity for us to evolve as a team (and bring in a more dynamic backup) and for Azpi to get a move back to Spain. Seems like Tuchel went for the intangible "leadership qualities" rather than what would help us improve as a team.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed, I do so Azpi as back up RCB more than RWB though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
On the other hand I think people are forgetting that Azpi had a good season. Just because he lacks the attacking threat doesn't make him a bad defender and our season lost momentum because of a depleted midfield a poor season fron Kante, Lukaku being a disaster, other attackers poorf8n8shing and the overall factor that we are not good enough to compete with City and Liverpool over 38 PL games.
I agree we are not good enough to compete with the top two over 38 games and instead the challenge will be fending off the teams below. A lot of pundits will write us off and label us prime suspects for falling out the top four.
Personally I think we can consolidate third. And I think having 3-4 top wing backs is key to any future title challenge we aspire for.
As is more potent finishing and a long term Kante replacement. But one step at a time.

Going after De Jong is succession planning right?
No I’d love Auba
Guy is a world class striker and we don’t currently even have a mediocre one
141 in 213 for Dortmund
92 in 163 for Arsenal - 68 in 128 in PL
12 in 23 for Barca
Pl proven
Still has a few years left at top (look at Vardy Ronaldo Cavani age wise)
Anyone that wouldn’t want Auba is a idiot
Considering our options are no striker or Werner or Broja who had a mediocre season at Southampton

Were Cavani, Ronaldo and Vardy dusted?
Bare in mind one of the best strikers we’ve had of recent times was Eto when he was old
And anelka wasn’t young either
I honestly don’t get how you can say you’d rather play havertz in a false 9 or Werner/broja over Auba
Or even just in the squad instead of Werner is an upgrade
And factoring in simply how much we lack goals we need all the attacking reinforcements can get
And Auba on a free? Yes please
He’s well dusted Oscar you wee fool
