Agree with this, really hope Southgate tries it

Shaw coming back will be a big help...if he manages to get match fit quickly

Clearlake & Boehly do not believe it is realistic or sustainable to target the world’s best established players at peak value. They would rather try to sign the potential superstars of tomorrow at lower cost, develop them in the right way and then retain them (via @TheAthleticFC)

Yes because transfers so far have been super sustainable. That’s why we’re forced to sell our captain.

Lower cost potential like Mudryk

posted on 20/6/24

They have mostly done the opposite by paying marquee signing prices on speculative punts

Yeah - I was surprised by that. Really expected them to create a couple of decent chances at least.

I know Bellingham is versatile but I still don’t like the idea of him as an 8 knowing he is literally probably the most in form no.10 / forward in the world right now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would argue Foden just as in form
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree. Both great players, and you’ve got to choose who is going to be #10 because they can’t both play there. But clearly shunting Foden out left isn’t working, so he’s should either drop Foden (for Gordon or Eze), or pull Bellingham back to an 8 and play Foden in the middle.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I swear Foden plays on the left for City

He has done, but not this season. They have Doku and (occasionally) Grealish for that.

He was playing 10 all the time that KDB was out injured and whenever KDB wasn't playing per se

It’s on another thread I’ve been commenting on but apparently out of his ~270 appearances for City, 80 have been on the left.

I remember when KDB was out he was more central this season but also been both sides from what I remember

Foden has had Pep telling him how to play his entire career. Now he has Southgate who himself has no clue what Foden should be doing.

Remember when Mount was the scapegoat among English fans. And some of the reason for that was because he was keeping Foden out the side. And Grealish, who didn’t even make the squad this time lol.

We’ve come a long way.

There's 2 major problems with the England team.
1) Gareth Southgate has always been a cautious and will always be cautious coach which doesn't bode well for these players.
2) He compensates his cautioness with picking players that do not suit his system.

That kalvin Phillips quote was hilarious

Also that Guehi is fantastic but not sure how he’d cope in an offensive system

Probably gonna be weaker next tournament with Kane getting too old

I know other players in the squad are young, but I don’t think overall it’ll be a stronger side
