Last season Enzo's very underwhelming performances were put down to an injury that he'd put off having an op for but I'm not sure what his excuse is this season.

As others have said already he's very slow for the PL and he doesn't really seem to have a position. Presumably he's most suited to deep lying playmaker but it's the role we've seen him in least here for whatever reason.

Up until now he's been a terrible signing for the money we paid. Maybe as a club we should just stop making these £70 million + type signings as we usually get them wrong.

I would say enzo has instances of great technical moments (liverpool game, cross for felix v west ham and when not under pressure).

As soon as he's under pressure it starts to unravel and this could be down to his lack of pace in the PL.

I mean this has been obvious for a while. Look at all of our super expensive signings. None of them were worth it. Quality aside, it’s just too high risk.

He was only about £30 million I think Nick, but obviously transfer fees have inflated ridiculously since then.

it probably is either chillwell (50m euros) or cole palmer (47m euros).

They are number 20 and 21 on our most expensive signings!

Jorginho for £55m was a very good signing.

How many signings even over £50 million can we say really worked out ?

posted 1 week, 6 days ago

I'd be neutral on jorgino. A lot of people get knocked up a few notches as we won the CL (mostly carried by mendy, our defence, kante and mount).
But in terms of day to day performances under the club, nothing to write home about at all. 5/10

well none for me unless you include chillwell which im not sure I do. Jorgino and chillwell would be on the brink, that's it.

I wouldn't include Chilwell, way too many injuries sadly. I'd include Jorginho as a success as we won trophies with him as the main man in midfield including the CL.

But yeah overall that makes for some fairly awful reading for of our £50 million + signings.

Without looking it up Havertz was about £70 million and Hazard was around £30 million who only further proves the point really.

------------------------------------------------------------
To my understanding he's still playing as a #10? That would be why.

It's so funny. We bring in a manager seemingly in full commitment of utilizing Enzo as the creative hub at the base of a 4-3-3... and he winds up doing what Pochettino had already tried & moved away from?

This is logic, like so many things we do

On the one hand you've got Enzo - very talented on the ball

hmmm

Saw more than enough at the World Cup & in his first half season w/Potter to back up this statement.

Is he an 100mil pound player? Oh f*ck no & I said that at the time, but good player

Well this is Chelsea. We're a basket case club. Presumably Enzo will eventually be tried as a deep lying playmaker by Maresca although we may need to lose some games first. That's how we usually do it here. Bang our head against the wall a few times before accepting the obvious.
