As delighted as I am for Cole netting four does anyone else think that others in the team could have got a bit more credit for their parts in the goals? Nico Jackson drawing the keeper out and then laying it on a plate for Palmer for the first goal and Sancho's lovely through ball for Cole's fourth. Both very much team goals I thought with Fernandez and Sancho's intricate interplay resulting in the pen for the second goal.
No doubt that Palmer's beautiful freekick for the third goal was all on him though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree with you. Seems silly to suggest Jackson didn’t mean that pass.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yup, I'm at a loss as to why anyone would think that Jackson doesn't mean that pass. He's looking at Palmer as he's passing it to him. Not sure how clearer it could possibly be lol.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Feels like he messes up the 1v1 with the keeper so decides to square it to Palmer.

Exactly. First of all - nobody said that he didn’t mean to make the pass. It’s just that it wasn’t his first intention - he was going for goal but miscontrolled the ball and ended up having to pass when he realized he screwed up. And his pass was sliced because he was falling the other way. And due to the slower speed of the pass, Palmer was forced to take it first time rather than being able to take a touch to control it first. The pass made Palmer’s finish more difficult - fortunately Palmer is good enough to deal with that. But I’m not sure anyone else on our team would be.

Well ain’t this some backtracking bs. You said he miss-hit the pass so you’re suggesting that the pass that came off, which I thought was perfectly fine, was not his intention. It was setup very well. It was not a difficult shot. It wasn’t only made because Palmer is that good.
This stinks of sticking to your guns of not rating a player so never giving him credit or benefit of the doubt. Jackson had a break, tried to fool the keeper into biting one way or another, the keeper to his credit stayed tall and central, Jackson was forced to dish it off and do so perfectly. It’s okay to admit this. I know it’s difficult for some. It was difficult for me with Cahill

He just lacks charisma and personality to be a top quality manager. Although, I agree the circumstances he had here were pretty tough.
He'll be a contender for the United job if Ten Hag gets sacked
Agree with BlueJ2. I said it during the game that Jackson nearly messed that up. Got his legs all tangled. But credit to him for having the awareness to pick out Palmer. Someone like Madueke would’ve went at it all alone even if he was off balance.
RTM - you’re adding a lot to my comment. As TLLL said above, Jackson was clearly going for goal but got his legs tangled. Obviously he then decided to pass to Palmer - I am not suggesting otherwise. But his pass was kind of sliced because he was falling over, hence “miss-hit”. He kicked the ball in the direction of Palmer, which obviously was his intention - but he couldn’t get as much on the ball as he wanted because he was falling over like he had Bambi legs.
That’s all I’m saying - I just didn’t think it was the lay-up you suggested. And it’s not as if I don’t like Jackson - I do. I think he adds a lot to the team, particularly the way we play our fast breaks. His running is phenomenal - in fact that’s a big part of why Palmer and our wingers seem to find so much space upfront. But I also recognize his limitations. I do believe he can improve his finishing and decision-making (as I suspect can Madueke), but it can be infuriating at times while we wait for that improvement.
Think people are unfair on Jackson. He needs to be more composed in front of goal but he deserves credit when he does the right things.

I think BlueJ gave avery fair assessment of Jackson. He praised him for his movement and pace and credited him with helping Chelsea create chances for others because of his movement and pace.....seems fair to me.
But he is also clumsy technically and not a great or instinctive finisher at present. He is not a player I expect to score when faced with a half chance or on a one on one with the keeper. His second goal agst West Ham was a great finish though.
I would start Nkunku over Jackson agst Forest due to the way Forestt are most likely to set up.
Thanks SWTN. I honestly didn’t think I was being controversial. In retrospect maybe RTM interpreted my “miss-kick” comment as meaning that I thought Jackson was trying to pass to someone other than Palmer. But I was merely conveying the thought that it was an imperfect pass - and Palmer made it look good with his brilliant finish.
Anyway, no biggie. Your suggestion of starting Nkunku over Jackson for the Forest match might be a good idea, based on their low block defence. Nkunku is excellent at finding tiny pockets where space is at a premium. And Jackson might be a good player to bring on when defenders start to tire. Although I think Nkunku will probably start the game on Thursday, so I suspect Maresca will start Jackson at the weekend.
I’m also interested to see Murillo more closely. It sounds like we are still looking at him.
I've watched Murillo this season, particularly v Liverpool at Anfield and he was immense. However, he's a left sided CB and we got Colwill there.

All players obviously have talent but Fofana was £80m I think, Disasi, Badiashile and Kouliably all around 40-50. Its a huge outlay and a shame none have really set the world alight.
