But that's the point isn't it though?? You feel Liverpool need to make 5 or 6 top quality signings to break into the top 4. Now I'd be very surprised if you or anyone else thought that last Summer.
================================
If there was one thing that literally every Liverpool fan agreed on last summer it was that we needed to sign at least 5-6 players just to get a competitive squad again. We needed a LB, CB, RW, LW, CF and maybe another CM and maybe a back up GK.
We signed Enrique, Coates, Bellamy, Downing which covered most of the gaps but instead of a striker we bought two CM, neither of whom have been spectacular. Plus we got rid of both Aquilani and Meireles our two most creative midfielders
But believe me, 5 players was the minimum being talked about last season, it was that poor. We are a lot better of now even if there are still some major gaps.
--------------------------------------------
True.
OP,
Chelsea fans were telling us at the start of the season how AVB was the new Mourinho. Look how that turned out.
Nobody knows how a season will pan out for any team. Yes, you can make an educated guess, but who would have thought that Manu would fail to qualify for the CL group stages or that Newcastle would be fighting for CL football.
If, If, If is easy OP.
Statistically we've created as many, if not more goalscoring opportunites than Arsenal this season.
----------------------------
I'd love it if you could get those statistics for me?
If not, stop talking nonsense.
Yea stats are balls. And even if you were to come up with stats that proved Liverpool had more chances than Arsenal then how would you prove that these were actually decent chances or just hit-and-hope type chances??
And also if Suarez is as quality as Liverpool fans make out, why isn't he converting chances to the same rate as RVP? Especially if you are "statistically creating as many, if not more goalscoring opportunities" like you just said.

----------------------------------------------
Due to RVP being an out and out striker and Arsenal playing in a system which suits their players, whilst playing players in their correct positions. Furthermore having played many more seasons in the league.
I find oppositions 'doubts' about Suarez pretty funny to be honest. I comes across as more desperate hope than actual doubt.
Or they just don't watch our matches.
No, i'm talking about after you signed Enrique, Henderson etc etc. None of your fans would've been thinking there would need to be many more signings to complete the squad or to have them finishing in the top 4 at least.
================================
Ah ok, I think we were all a bit sceptical of Henderson but Downing and Adam have had much poorer seasons than they'd had previously. I think most fans knew we were still a striker short, as always seems to be the case with us, but letting Meireles go on deadline day was a kick in the teeth for me.
Regardless, the squad is better, the performances have been better, we're just not scoring the goals that our play has deserved. Yes we might not have got top 4 but we have played much better than we did last season, plus we've had two cup finals.
Last season I was despairing at our league position, this season I'm not too bothered because I know how many games we were a lick of paint away from winning and I don't feel we need the ridiculous overhaul we did last summer. We can hopefully focus on stregthening those obvious gaps and kick on with a team that has had some more time to gel instead of a team with 8 players who have only joined the club 6 months ago.
Furthermore having played many more seasons in the league.
------------------------------
What does that have to do with it if you're creating clearcut chances? Do the goals look different in Holland?
Also RVP is not an out and out striker. That is a stupid comment to make.
whilst playing players in their correct positions
---------------------------------
This is very laughable too.
Arsenal have had so many players playing out of position this season.
No player in the top five leagues in the world has created more chances than Downing without getting an assist this season. This points to missed chances and a definite need for a finisher, such as RVP. Adam also has remained high in the chances created charts but despite his assists, is labelled a failure due to finishing problems.
And also if Suarez is as quality as Liverpool fans make out, why isn't he converting chances to the same rate as RVP?
================================
No-one's converting chances better than RVP, he's on fire and IMO he's the best out-and-out striker in world football.
Much like Rocky fighting great but Apollo being a goalscorer, Suarez scores goals but RVP's a goalscorer
Suarez has proved himself in Holland, has proved himself on the international stage and has done very well for Liverpool since he joined.
Any doubters are deluded.

-------------------------------------------------
Or maybe, aimless crosses into the penalty area just aren't the best way to get an assist.
IMO he's the best out-and-out striker in world football.
----------------------------
I don't share that opinion
I would take Lucas in a heartbeat at United.

Or crosses in which players miss the goal or hit the post, result in chances created not being turned into assists.

But according to one poster you have two top quality forwards in Bellamy and Suarez?
Apollo is a great fighter not a goalscorer
Thought you might of mixed that one up Didi lol..
I'm just going to enjoy watching Suarez nutmeg the league until Barca or Real Madrid come for him.
Two more seasons works for me.

Yes both are forwards, one can't play often, hence why he was available on a free. We don't need a forward, we need a striker. There is a difference. Suarez is a forward, RVP a striker. Perhaps this is what's confusing you.
Clearly it is you who is confused, as everything you have said has been covered in my previous posts.
