A.Johnson is terrible, don't know why people rate him so highly. Shouldnt even be on the plane. At times was not even making the bench for City.

Young Gerrard Lampard Walcott
Rooney
Carroll / Welbeck

We're lacking a good cm to partner Gerrard and although him and lamps never seem to work i'd still rather have him over any of the c'rap like barry milner parker or carrick.

Not like we're gunna win anyway

I also don't know how Carroll is making his way into people's squads, never mind starting teams

You forgot to include lampard in the midfield crap... He has been massively found out at international level

I think with the world cup in mind we would be as well ditching the older players like Gerrard lampard etc who won't be there and give the younger players the tournament experience which could be invaluable in a couple of years. When Sturridge grows up he's going to be a top player and I think Welbeck could be too.Midfield creativity without wilshire or cleverly is a drawback but we'll need to graft to get out of the group and I ll be surprised If we do

The following team would crush all the teams you have given:

Banks,
Cohen, Charlton J., Moore (Capt.), Wilson;
Ball, Stiles, Charlton R., Peters;
Hunt, Hurst.

All the england strikers are crap and inconsistent TBK and carroll and welbeck just happen to be best of the rest imo hence get the nod.
I'd obviously play Rooney but not as the main striker as he wastes far too many chances and has been poor this season in front of goal ( i know he has scored 30+ goals but in terms of actual shot conversion that's poor, i've seen him squander at least 10 goal scoring chances that have been on a platter this season ) .
His link-up play is quality though and he seems to cause more problems for teams roaming behind the striker

Lampard has been one of the best english midfielders in recent weeks

Typical tottenham fan reaction . Lampard can always be relied on for a few goals, his not as good as someone like Carrick in terms of passing etc but he can still get in them goal-scoring positions and take a chance as seen at numerous euros and world cups over the year

Crouch and Holt are similar players to Crouch and have been far more consistent. I don't mind Welbeck, I think he's a good player.

My team would be:

Hart
Walker Lescott Jagielka Cole
Johnson Carrick Gerrard Barry Young
Carroll

This is the best team we can put out. Seriously.

Wwwwwwwwhat????????

In 2012 he has showed steady improvement as he adjusts to his new environment, illustrated by his bludgeoning of Mr England, John Terry

He also may dovetail nicely with Roy's hoofball philosophy, which may suit England.

Most of them are dead and any that are still breathing would be about 70 now! Don't think they'd be much cop to be honest!

Hart

Walker Smalling Terry Cole

Gerrard Parker Scholes

AOC Bent Young

Scholes - I might be dreaming... But if he won't come out of retirement then Cleverley.
Wilshere and Rooney unavailable obviously.

Bench stacked with youngsters... Jones, Sturridge, Walcott, Welbeck... Then Lampard, Lescott.

This is a tongue-in-cheek thread right?
You don't seriously think we have a snowball's
chance in hell of winning or even doing well?
Do you?

Yeah but is there a more uninspiring player apart from Barry? Frank lumped stinks of the failed golden generation. If england wanna do well might as well freshen the whole scene up

He wont start 4-4-2
