As a football fan in general, I don't think success can be measured by trophies. There are far too many teams incapable of winning trophies. Success is outlying your targets before the start of the season, and achieving them.

For big clubs though, the target is to win the league they play in every week. Unfortunately for Arsenal and Liverpool, although they are big clubs, both sets of fans knew/should have known the target was to finish top 4. There was no chance in hell of either side winning the league, not when you look at our signings compared to Chelsea's, or Man City/United's. I'm really disappointed my club has come to this, but it's just something I have to live with now.

For Liverpool especially, I think CL football was crucial as they haven't been in the comp for a couple of seasons now.

In my opinion, the league cup isn't a major trophy anymore. So many teams play reserve sides, it really has devalued the competition. Even in the FA cup, some teams do this. That's just my opinion though.

As an Arsenal fan, I'd take winning the league cup and FA Cup if it meant one season without Champions League football. However, we are dependent on the revenue, so we couldn't keep doing this. Liverpool can do this though, as they have the American owners.

You would have had the more successful season if you'd won both the cups in my opinion, even though you finished 7th. But you can't deny Liverpool fans were really after CL football. At least to compete for 4th, you guys were way off the pace in the league this season. Me personally, a league cup could not have cured the hurt caused by your results in the league this season. But you did get to both finals though, that in itself is a hard achievement.

Just to reinforce, I'm disappointed that success for us means finishing 4th (or sadly, in the case of spurs, 3rd ). It's just something Arsenal fans are going to have to accept, with City and now Chelsea likely to roll out the cash after that CL win (I seriously can't fooking believe they did that).

I'm sure I've missed out a few points, but I gotta go.

CL is 10 times the trophy to the FA cup and if we're being pedantic, it was still after theirs, regardless of same season.
