How good is Wayne to us?

I would say it goes:

1. Ronaldo
2. Cantona
3. Rooney
4. RVN
5. Cole/Hughes/Yorke

Tevez had one good season for us, no way is he in our top 5 forwards of the last 25 years!

The fact that he could end up what, 3rd highest scorer in our history? And people are banging on about how useless he is, is ridiculous, people need to wake up.

posted on 23/8/12

As much as I dislike Tevez he is a better player than Wayne and you could see that in the time he was with us.

He may be a better player, but if you're judging on that then why not place people like Forlan and Rossi on lists of our best strikers? I'm sure you agree Rooney will go down in United history whereas most would prefer Tevez to be wiped out.

Thats why he kept Wayne on the bench?

I am happy to wipe Tevez out and will bow down to peer pressure on this then. Wayne moves up to third then. Although if it was based on pure ability I would have.

1. Ronaldo
2. Cantona
3. Van Persie
4. Tevez
5. Wayne

I would agree with that (Y)

I consider ruud and his 150 odd goals a mildly above average player. Why? United strikers do more than score goals. Cantona is going to top this list from every single poster notr because of his goal scoring record but because he is the quintessential united striker. He made the team better by his passing, dribbling and mercurial talent.

We don't want rooney as a goal scorer, (well I as a critic) we want rooney as an all around good footballer. He was bought as a cantonaesque type of player. His early years he lived up to it and many hoped he will get better like his counterparts (yup back then comparing him to messi and ronaldo was not hilarious). Instead his ability dteriorated so much, there was an article about "his first touch" yesterday. I wonder if an article about the highest paid players in league has focused on their first touch? This will be laughed off.

I have lost all hope I had of having a future WPOTY, I don't even want him to be a game changer, all I want now is a player capable of doing the basic skills of a footballer at a level higher than 50-50. I would like to not have to worry about the first touch of a 200000 a wk player.

I smell a rat.

On ability you have rvp yet no berba..hmm tevez over Wayne..

Im afraid i wont be taking the bait on this one

posted on 23/8/12

What rat? I am well known on the forum and certainly not a wum.

Yes Tevez is a better player than Wayne and no I wouldn't put Berb above the five mentioned. He's talented but has had ample opportunity to put that talent to use and failed. To put him in the bracket of the five I have listed would be extremely naive.

I know everyone loves cantona but one thing that always got to me was that he never performed in European games. So could u say on The biggest stage he couldn't hack it. Just wondering . Still loved watching him play.

Tevez should not even be on that list

1/2 seasons is not enough

Ronaldo was a winger. TEvez will never be rated as a Utd player let alone a top Utd player. Rvp hasn't even scored a goal for Utd yet. Rvn was a real striker. What about Andy Cole and dwight Yorke. Some of our fans have very short memories.

++++
The fact he could? yeah he Could!!! but to be honest I'm not bothered about what players have done in the past or what they could do in the future, what bothers me is now, he aint anywhere near fit and he needs to shed a few pounds.

Why is that ridiculous???

Jack agree with you lad. Cole and Yorke was the best combination I've seen up front for us. Madness they haven't been considered in some lists

Rooney will still get around his 30 goals this season.

The memory is fine thanks and Cole and Worke weren't as good as the five mentioned.

As for Van P, the list I included him on was for general ability, not United form.

And yes, as much as I dislike Tevez he is a superior player to Wayne.

I agree he needs to up his game now, but come on it's one game and he was nowhere near as bad as people are making out. I had a comment in mind from yesterday where somebody went through all of his goals from a couple of seasons ago and tried to rubbish them by putting all the credit with our players setting them up. I think people sometimes forget what he's done for this club the last 7/8 years.

RVP has only shone over the last 2 seasons,it will be interesting to see how he performs this season and how he will fit in to your team.

He has gone from the main man and saviour at Arsenal to the third costliest striker in your squad. He could find it very difficult to fit in.In defence of Rooney,in his 8 or so seasons at Old Trafford how many striking partners has he had to form understandings with???

He's shone every season for Arsenal, just that last season was his first without being hampered by injury.

Was the question not who has been the best for Utd. Andy and worke were probably one of The best partnerships. We ever had.

You must have been in a coma for his second season then.

Therefore your comments on Tevez are mute, and should be ignored.
