So basically you're saying AHB that he's good at retaining possession?

That said, Iniesta would be nothing without the players around him to eventually make use of what he does for the team.

So now you're saying is he's a luxury player and actually doesn't contribute anything to the team

nice one just as we suspected

Real Madrid drawing not the best start so far. Ronaldo will struggle to score as many as last season

Crouch got creditted with the assist despite doing all the hard work.

The only time I remember Iniesta doing that in the Euros was for Spain's first goal in the final and yet he was voted player of the tournament

Several times in 09-10 I think it was, I remember watching a Spurs game on Sky Sports. As I can recall, Bale had received the ball and then just totally outpaced and glided past three different players. He then crossed it into the box only for Crouch to knock it down and then a player (can't remember who it was) scored.

Crouch got creditted with the assist despite doing all the hard work.

My point is that the assist is usually the final ball or cross that leads to a goal, that's it. It could just be a simple 5 yard pass despite a player weaving his way through to help create the opportunity.

There is a stat for that actually. It's called key passes.

lol i think the next 2 best strikers in europe after messi and ronaldo would struggle to score as many combined as he did last year

Luxury player who is highly used and wanted at Barca. Not only at Barca either, was player of the tournament at the Euro's, still have no idea what point you are trying to make.

Mourinho and Ancelotti, 2 massive s

SORT IT OUT

Batmanu, your obsession with Iniesta over the past months is getting tedious. I took your opinions seriously for the past couple of years until this recent obsession. I can't tell if you're on the wum or actually serious which would be unfortunate.

That's he useless, does nothing, isn't vital to the team and has no defining role or characteristic

Well that and the goal in the final of the world cup is about the only thing he's actually known for so that must be why you think he's so good

It's more than that though Saint. Makelele, Keane those kind of players were economical in keeping posession in that they'd almost opt for the simplest pass around them. They were nothing passes though. Iniesta does the same imo but his passes have edge to them. They're weighted to perfection and generally played in such a way to make the next pass even simpler for Xavi or whoever it is.

So yes, that is his role and it's a simple one but he has it nailed down to absolute perfection and it's a vital asset to Barca and how they play.

Fatty

How can he do nothing when he's been in the UEFA team of the season for the past 3 years?

So basically what you're trying to say is he keeps possession and is the equivalent of leon britton

nice one

Coming back to this, you tried to mock people for not being able to define Iniesta's role in the team. I lay it out on a plate for you and you try and dismiss it with a petty comparison.

I'd keep arguing with you but I feel bad that by keeping you here, some village is being deprived of it's local idiot.

Oh ok, for a minute i thought you were making a constructive argument, too bad

So I guess that you wouldn't take Iniesta in the Arsenal midfield? The guy is better than all of our midfielders.

So would you say Iniesta is world class doing the same role as Leon Britton does?

Not difficult.

I'll lay any money that the Iniesta-haters are dislikers of the Spain and Barca style, preferring the more direct football of Real and Germany for example. How's my aim there?
