Romero cost us a goal at Leicester and was guilty of not getting back for their first goal today.

Will Ange drop him for Drag ?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
For once our defence wasn't really the issue today. I thought both Drag and Romero had some good moments in the match. Our attack let us down. The stats say it all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

We let in 2 goals. That's an issue, no matter what way we dress it up.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's not the story of the game though is it, like it usually is. We dominated and were camped in their half getting into good positions for 80% of that match and yet scored once via an own goal. We were bound to concede just from not taking our own chances.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Bound to concede due to not taking chances? wtf.

I don't get that theory if I'm honest.

Dont concede but take one chance = winning.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I mean we know what Spurs are like. They have a period of dominance and when we don't make the most of it it comes back to haunt them because, yes our defence isn't perfect. But the game was about us not winning today through having all that attacking possession and failing to build on it. That was the real issue. If we had anything about us the game would have been comfortably over and done with.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I couldn't disagree more. We didn't win because we let in 2 poor goals when not conceding too many chances.. We scored 1 goal which could be enough to win a game. Conceding 2 goals will often lose you games.

Ange seems to to be all about attack yet can't coach a side to score goals. He then neglects the defensive side and his side let's in goals for fun, even when we don't give away too many chances.

His way won't work, I guarantee. That said, I genuinely don't think any manager could make us work.

We are a shet club to support. Hate supporting. This club at times to be honest. We are a joke.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We could have won by a single goal today and we'd be happy but still we'd be thinking, for all the domination our attack could have done more with it. If you want to interpret as our defence is what let us down more than anywhere else then yes we are in disagreement. There were moments where we defended pretty well too.

The truth for me is the game should have been won, by us creating more and scoring more goals, not from conceding less.

Anyone worried about Vicario?

His long-kicking and kicking under pressure was Llorisesque. And he looks flappy as fack.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd put him low on our list of problems. His kicking was poor though in this game. Did make an important save that kept us in the game at the time also.

I think everyone appears to have a strange perception of how that game went. Yes we controlled possession but do you remember multiple guilt-edge chances? Pound for pound I’d say they had more than we did. Also, that was their game plan. They allowed us to have the ball rather than it being anything to do with us being superior.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, They allowed us to have the ball in order to create tons of opportunities against them.

Give me examples of any clear cut chances we had. We didn’t even score our goal.

It doesn’t have to be clear cut. We had the chances . Poor final ball , poor execution. Bottom line is we were poor up front . Really doubt Howe would want to play in front of their home fans and get dominated . We even had opportunities through our press which hasn’t been really great recently. Even Howe alluded to how he wished Pope was less busy.

Your emotions clearly overriding the reality of how the game evolved:

Most were half chances. Sort of shots from around the box and set pieces. Best chances I'd say fell to BJ (the goal included), although he kind of turned a half chance into a good chance himself when he skied it over the bar from close range.

No major chances created really and that's been a problem for a while. For some reason players seem reluctant to throw themselves into the box when good crosses are put in.

It’s just a matter of time for Ange now. Bookmark this.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You just can't wait can you. Some supporter you are.

Wouldnt want you covering my back on a fight. Pathetic coward, turn on your own as soon as the going gets tough....tough being 1 loss.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I couldn’t give a fl ying f @ck what you think about anything

Year after year you are made to look the tw at you are with your continuing fawning of daniel levy. Year after year he mugs you off

Ange will be gone because your man levy won’t be able to resist firing him. The same as he has jol, rednapp, Poch and even Jose the week of a cup final

But you carry on telling everybody what a great fan you are and how much you know about the game whilst at the same time championing an owner that has won one league cup in a quarter of a century

Oh, but I forgot, it’s not about silverware for you
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I've never said I'm a great fan...I just know cowardly fickle moaner when I see one. A fan who wants us to bookmark that Ange will get the sack so he can say "I told you so". Feckin says it all really. P

Newcastle were very defensive and effective at it.

But until we stop having a soft centre teams roll feel.comfortable doing this against us. We co trolled the game today and one dopey error and it changed everything. Just like Leicester. I don't put it down to the tactics as the Leicester goal was very different, but romero switching off twice has cost us twice.

He's an experienced individual WC winner, who should be stepping up but he let us down.

Overall still a look of good stuff to take encouragement, from. But we do need a no.9 back. It was our problem last season and was also today in a tough away game.

We lost that second goal because of Aussieglue's stupidly gross high line.
When will he learn that he can't do that when Miky VDV is not playing?
We were out run and they had an easy tap-in.
End of Faackin game!

That’s the thing. It’s not a betrayal of your philosophies to consider tactics tweaks related to personnel changes. The very best coaches do it but even though there was a tweak in the first half with Kulu playing as a false nine, Son and Odobert failed to run in behind or arrive at the right position at the back post too often. If you’re not going to play with a striker, you have to make sure your wide forwards are in the danger area when it’s played in. They weren’t. So even though we got into dangerous positions, I can’t think of many real chances we missed.

Again, poor players up front. So glaring to see where we were lacking today. Pundits on MOTD summed it up perfectly. You don’t have to create 50 one on ones but the few opportunities to deliver the correct ball we made poor choices and lacked nous or cleverness on the ball to deliver.
Newcastle had fewer chances and won. Pools 3rd goal today was a perfect example . Was not clear cut but they worked it and made it look easy. Thats the difference. We had a couple of those opportunities today and flunked our lines.
BJ not good enough , oddobert still young and needs time. Werner not good enough , Richarlison injury prone and jury still out on Solanke.

So the only person to blame really is Levy for buying on the cheap. The reason we didn’t score our chances and Liverpool took theirs is because they’ve got better players than us. Problem is, they cost money. Therein lies the reason why we’ll get nowhere under ENIC.

Yes, Levy ain't going to buy midfielders like Dani Olmo.
So we have do with el Cheapos.
But Today's loss is entirely due to the idiot we have for a manager wo cannot change his tactics to suit the players he has (or has not) on the field.

posted on 2/9/24

You do know Olmo would never have come to Spurs while Barca was on the table, right Ted

Celtic supporter here......looking forward to the game.

Hoping Arsenal's injuries/suspensions are significant enough to make a difference and Spurs can win the game. Hearing Solanke is fit and hopefully starts.

posted on 15/9/24

Their injuries will help us a little but we have to turn up and be solid all over the pitch today. Concentration and no silliness.

I hope the ref pays no attention to fartettas antics on the sidelines claiming everything is a foul or against them when it occurs….. really get my goat that behaviour.

One things for sure we play this high line against this lot and its curtains.

posted on 15/9/24

I love but also hate this game.

Can’t tell if the injuries are going to force Arsenal to be more defensive which may help them, we struggle against low block teams.

Need to be clinical today.

COYS!!

Worst game of the season unless you’re either at the ground or tanked up, preferably both - I will be neither.

I always get my predictions slightly wrong so will refrain today.

Just hope it’s not too controversial
