That's a good stat. Though I think at this stage most can see he's a water carrier. According to whoscored at least he's made 639 PL appearances and 0 assists. None.
I'm not trying to hate on him, he's not an awful footballer, but just like people don't want to get carried away even though we've won 3 games convincingly, I don't want to get carried away with a player who looked alright against Palace.

Me
That's the minutes stat
4 career assists, 143 appearances
only 639 minutes that doesnt seem many
He’s played roughly 7 games

This season. Yeah I had a mare. Too many tabs on my phone
143 appearances, 8327 minutes. 3 goals, 4 assists
I can’t believe he’s only managed 639 minutes (which seems surprisingly low to me), PEH has managed almost 4 times that which is ridiculous (obvs in the league)
Hojbjerg *actual career stats this time
222 apps, 15767 minutes, 7 goals, 14 assists
Winks is basically James Ward-Prowse without the set piece ability which is very over rated anyhow.
He is a your average run of the mill midfielder who cannot defend to save his life.
Prime example yesturday was when Zaha was able to get his shot off which hit the post. Who was the nearest player next to him? Harry Winks. No thought of putting in a tackle of throwing his body on line. Yeah let their most dangerous player have a free shot outside the box.
I was willing him to prove me wrong yday but no improvement. Such a shame.
i am a cultist i love jose
For contrast, Ndombele career stats
145 apps, 9812mins, 9 goals, 20 assists
I saw the Jose cultist remark and thought I would add my 2 pence in too
Wink's only goal this season was mean't to be a cross LOL
I don't think anyone is suggesting winks should be anything more than a squad player
He has his used but also has painful limitations
His only use is allowing other players to get a rest against sides where we should have more of the ball. He's a space on the pitch with limited responsibility. The truth is Sissoko offers more of an option (big games with a low block / covering Aurier).
The breaking of the press and then cutting it back yesterday was the killer for me. Whether it's a confidence thing, or maybe he just doesn't have the vision of an Eriksen or Ndombele to see a pass, I don't know. But those fine margins can turn a promising moment into a goal.. or just another phase of play
I guess I care because I think he CAN do it, he just doesn't

That’s what I thought - he had a good game against palace and was worth mentioning considering the criticism he’s recently received.
I’ve said this a few times but our better performances often coincides with him being in the team. Quick rotation of the ball to our attackers is very important in our side

Why? This used to be what Dembele was the king of, it depends on what is being instructed of him but with Dembele it was a clear tactic so our team could set up in possession in the appropriate zones
We look so much better with Ndombele in there instead of Winks
He was definitely showing more in previous seasons. Confidence / a misunderstanding of what to do / a fear of not following instructions / worried a mistake will limit game time any further so is keeping his head down.
He's better than what he's showing.
