Or did anyone see Lua Lua's moments of greatness?
He took a penalty. Rolled it into the left hand corner (keeper dived the wrong way).
Ref told him to take it again beciase of players going into the box early.
Took his second pen. Rolled it into the left hand corner (keeper dived the wrong way).
Referee told him to retake once again, because of the same issue of players coming into the box too early.

Agree that a smashed penalty is a thing of beauty, but I was always a big fan of Yakubu's pens
how stupid can one keeper be? which keeper was it?
Zidane. To lob BUFFON in the WC final is just....
There was a keeper once who took all the penalties and free kicks, he was quite good too, i think it was Chilavert?
Le Tis, Cantona, Shearer, Lamps, Zidane.
I can't remember who it was, but on a thread someone remdined me of what a great penalty taker Mendieta was.
Del Piero was pretty good as well. Always felt he'd score when he stepped up.
Iv seen a video of Totti taking a backheel penalty and scoring, but it was in training

Alex Stepney?
Also Butt of Bayern Munich.
I'm going to try and find the Lua Lua stuff. I think it was Portsmouth vs Charlton - may have Kiely in goal
Brehme and Gary Mac were both pretty good if I remember rightly.
Butt the German keeper was a penalty specialist but sometimes it didn't always go to plan

For me Zidane's penalty is the greatest ever, World Cup final against one of the finest keepers ever. Incredible.

At one point i remember Menedieta being the cream of the crop and was rated as the world's best, but i think it all went wrong after that, just shows making wrong decisions in your career and then you end up fading out.
Mendieta used to be one of my favourite players. I forget who it was against, but I remember in the CL semis he absolutely destroyed his opposition, up their with the great CL performances. My memory isn't what it was, so I can't remember who against.
He'd give a lot of these current Spanish players a run for their money. People forget Spain had some unbelievable players before this new batch.
Remember his Scholes-esque goal against Barca?
Lampard is a fantastic penalty taker. Sheared was outstanding also. Gerrard penalties arent necessarily great but he's a winner with nerves of steel.
Spain had some amazing players before too, this assembly line of players that is around now is something else though.
But i think when the likes of Xaxi, Iniesta retire, then Spain will struggle against the big sides.
has Balotelli ever missed one?
Strange how England seem to have quite a few good penalty takers (Shearer, Le Tiss, Lampard, Gerrard etc) yet we're useless in penalty shoot-outs.
I remember our first 5 penalties against German in '96, all of them unstoppable, then up popped Southgate...
