I want to see Cleverely played more often, and trusted in the big games, same with Anderson

The way we have started last 3 games has been the worst i have ever seen from UTD, even worse than the Demba Demba years.
I am just so so so angry with SAF right now....
How has he been unable to motivate the players i just don't understand.
Its just the same blueprint...
We start the game at 1st gear casually strolling, looking like Milan of old.
Then Carrick/Scholes fail to cjheck the run of opposition midfielders or Rio makes a mess of a simple headed clearence and they score.
We suddenly realise that the opposition won't score 2 own goals, so maybe we need to get up frm our backsides and play a little.
We start to press the opposition, play a higher line and score a good goal.
Then because of the high line and defenders not suited to it, we loose another goal at the counter.
Then we again go even more gung ho to try and score a goal.

This just does not cut it.
Manchester United players should not need to be a goal down to motivate themselves to play better, certainly not for 3-4 games out of 6-7 in total

Haha Dunc

I guess your negativity cancels out my positivity and vice versa
---------------------------------
Positivity is all good Rob but we can't just bury our heads in the sand and think maybe a blue fairy will come and outplay Yaya Toure when we face City....
There has to be a reason to all that is happening....

Same here

Also, when we have injury problems I would like to see youth be given a chance rather than playing players out of position

I trust that SAF will give Cleverson chances in big games as the season goes on.

lol Valencia

Again with the exaggeration! We've played just as badly as those games in every season i've been watching United. We ALWAYS have a bad run of a couple of games but where we excel is putting a great run together after a loss and i'm sure we will this time.

Newcastle - Missing their best 2 central defenders
Stoke - Awful away from home
Chelsea - tough but missing Terry.
Arsenal - RVP will be fired up.

It's correct that we shouldn't need to go behind in order to start playing.

But as I keep saying we do not have the set up to press teams and dominate in the middle, we can only do that when teams sit back or if we are in ascendancy.

Didn't Newcastle have similar defensive problems last season when they hammered us 3.0

It didn't matter they had players out we didn't get a sniff they totally bullied us off the pitch and outplayed us from start to finish.

I'm very worried about that game, I fear Giggs is being rested for that game and Scholes.

VCD

Like I said before the only reason Giggs played on Sat was because Rooney wasn't match fit. I'm certain Scholes will start on Sunday with Carrick and probably Rooney coming back into midfield but Newcastle away was just one of those days for us where we played awfully.
We had Giggs and Park in midfield and no Nani.

It'll be different this time. Giggs is probably injured or has some family members to nail

If this happens....then we certainly need a shake up.
Noone can be that stupid...right???
Its just not possible

Cleverson will never be good enough to play a 4-4-2 against a good team and i see no plans from SAF to change our formation
----------------
Moronic statement. Considering their presence coincided with our best attacking football since 2007, leading us to dominate the midfield in every game then I can't see how you come to this conclusion. We also conceded 5 goals in this time frame with a young, nervous goalkeeper and a back line with an average age of about 22. They'll never be good enough though, let's just get rid...

Every time they have played they have played the correct way and not failed to deliver so far. All we are asking for is to give them a chance and a run of games. I am certain they would take this chance. Anyone actually a tad jealous of Liverpool's new approach? Rodgers has sat mugs like Downing on the bench and their youngsters are coming on and running their socks off. That is what we need.

Love to think we could go there and win, but does anyone see that happening ?

Demba Ba is on fire, can see him causing us so many problems and Cisse.

I don't like how I've started to get worried about us as normally I'm more cheerful or optimistic.

But this season I've not been impressed at all with Utd, I think we've played badly is mostly all games, but got out of jail by playing good football in periods in some games.

Need to play a lot better and hopefully we will

I'm all for Scholes to play against Newcastle on Sunday, to be honest he is still arguably our best centre midfielder, Giggs on the other hand should not be anywhere near the pitch.

And people blaming injuries...
We are starting to sound like Arsenal fans.
What;s the point of having a squad when 4 out of 5 defenders are injury prone and 2 of them are over 30.
Whose fault is that???
But guess what...maybe another top striker will be available on a cheap next year which will keep the fans on SAF's side.

Agreed.
If Scholes plays we need to partner him with 2 midfielders.
We are scoring goals for fun, we should look for some midfield solidity.

I hope Fletcher is able to play against Newcastle, our one player who is up for a scrap in CM.

But it's a big ask to start him, however I'd far prefer we played him than Giggs

Kagawa

Surely the football we played at the start of last season was down to Young and Welbeck too so surely Kagawa and RVP should be dropped for them?

The only reason Cleverson played together last season was because of injuries. They have never been our first choice central pairing and while I like them both individually and would have no problem seeing them both line up against any team (I genuinely don't care what 11 we put out) our best attacking football has actually been with Carrick and Anderson.

See Blackburn 7-1 and Birmingham 5-0

Jesus. The way some people talk you would think the age 30 is when players suddenly become rubbish. So what if 2 of our CBs are over 30? They can still cut it at the top level (although not so much in Rio's case due to a bad back) but Vidic is far from past it.

As for injuries, we have been unlucky but every team has an injury crisis now and then.

If we play:

Anderson Cleverley
Nani Rooney Kagawa
Van Persie

we win the game. Or if we don't win, we will have played some tremendous attacking football, pressured the opposition and not been competely overrun in midfield. We could well lose or draw, but I can guarantee you the manner of the result will be very different to that of Saturday's.

We do play better football when Anderson is playing, I only wish he would be regular starter. Fergie doesn't have any faith in him at all.

Tremendous attacking football is pointless if we lose the game. There is one stat that matters at the end of any game and that is the final score.

I'd rather enjoy football than win by playing boring football though.

Not saying we are boring, but its not the Utd of old.

agreed, the only time we have any urgency in midfield.

C'mon man...tjhe answer to stupidity is not stupidity itself.
We need either a Fletch or Carrick, certainly away from home.
As good as Cleverson are, they may have the legs(not after 60-70mins in Ando's case) but they do lack the experience of shielding the defense and positioning when under pressure from the opposition.
Maybe something like
----------------Carrick/Fletch-----------------
-------------Ando----------Clevz--------------
---Nani---------------RVP--------------Rooney/Kag

You're being a moron again. You're being pedantic to push your agenda, as per. It's getting really boring now. Cleverson played not because of injuries, but because they dominated City in the second half of the CS. Carrick was sat on the bench and Scholes had retired. Rio and Vidic were out and guess what, Smalling and Evans came in and played well. Stop lying.

I think I would rather win the game boringly than lose by playing exciting football, I don't know if that's just me, but as Fergie always says, football is a results business.

I agree but don't forget he always seems to be nursing an injury, he obviously does have faith in him because he has had a series of long injuries and still kept him on.
