Internet access can help small businesses grow its also a massive undertaking to upgrade this system which would employ thousands, and that would trickle into the economy.
Could you expand on your ideas/plans on what the government should do to improve our economy?
Comes back to avaialble lending Duke or the lack of.
20 years ago the standard morgage criteria used to be 3 times salary or 2.5 times joint salary which was sensible and woiuld allow movment at the end of the market which could be classed as starter homes.
Unfortunately the banks still arent allowing enough morgage applications through.

Why do you want to discuss the past when we need to make changes now? Im no defender of labour if you would have known if you read the thread.
THIS government have admitted themselves they made a mistake and SHOULD have invested in infrastructure at the start of THEIR term, instead they made massive cuts....and now we are here.
Improved infrastructure = quicker access to Inverness and Aberdeen = Less drinking time for 12pm kick-offs = Drop in atmosphere at such stadia..
Think!
I'm working on it FFS, table will be up in next 30 minutes and fixtures up thereafter

not really
while we imports just about everything for retail its hard.
We are a manufacturing country that make next to nothing.
We do make cars a plenty (slowing granted) but profits head east so never hit fully.
Perhaps an import ban or import levy though Im sure Europe would tell us that is against the law.
You could get very radical and admit the country is over populated..... how do you fix that?

On the verge of a triple dip recession? Whilst there was more growth at the end of Labours term and most other countries are now moving towards growth apart from us?
Iceland who were hardest hit have a faster growing economy than the US. Germany have more power than before the recession because they have a stable economy built on manufacturing and construction we sold all of that a long time ago.
And how do they do that when there aren't any jobs which pay enough to support their family?
==
Ah that d chestnut
A very large proportion have never had a job neither do they have any intention. They bunked off school, left with no qualms at 16 but blame everyone else and expect others to foot the bill.
... Here's an idea tame some fückin respo sublimity for yourself and family. It isn't the government or anyone's else responsibility to provide you with a lifestyle

It was more in the context of the people discussing this. I'd imagine the vast majority of us on here are scottish and live in scotland. Im sure many other parts of the uk have no love for this government.
I know that in terms of manufacturing goods this country lost out a long time ago, though that doesnt prevent us from investing in our infrastructure.
