just live your life, why the need to 'come out'?

It's brilliant. The reality is there are loads of gay footballers and many of them are bi-sexual. The stigma of homosexuality in what is often perceived as a masculine sport is something very primitive.

Fair play to the guy for coming out.

problem is, he says he's 'stepping away' from the game. really, football needs gay players active in the game to try and fight the taboo.

Thoughts? I don't care. It isn't even news ffs.

i agree batmanu, its not newsworthy whatsoever

I can see your point, but why shouldn't he. IMO the game needs more people to come out (because I am certain there are many more gay footballers out there). Football is behind the times when it comes to homosexuality, and the more figures that come out as being openly gay, the better.

Seriously this guy needs to get a life. No one is interested in his sexuality FFS. Just to created publicity for his new job. Useless news...useless article....

ofcourse he is, you can tell just by his name

sergio

why does it need more people to come out, i couldnt care less if the entire united team are gay, i will support them, just because a few players come out as gay wont change some people's attitudes towards homosexuality, as we have seen with the recent footage of rampant racism still in the english game, we have had black players playing regularly in england for more than 30 years now and some people are still ignorant enough to be racist

posted on 15/2/13

Brilliant really? Why doesn't he keep that sort of stuff to himself?
Most people are not interested. Or his trying to bait other guys to come out closet too?

What? You gonna lash out at me now?

Personal decision , why tell the world ?

Is he stepping away from football because he's come out as gay or is he announcing it now he has retired

Either way the fact the he felt the need to hide it while playing is worthy of discussion

If you're not interested then whether he keeps it to himself or not shouldn't bother you.

Tbh I don't get why people are saying it's so good, considering he retired at the same time.

Good lad.

there are many more football players who will be gay.

posted on 15/2/13

What? If you come out now 8bot and say: "I love boy rod!!" I'm still not interested, but I will obviously think 'wtf, yo?!'

Mex, I understand what you're saying, and I agree. I don't understand the reaction of some people, who are criticising him for making it public. At the end of the day it's his prerogative. I just think its a shame he feels the need to take a break from the game after coming out. Shows where we are currently.

how would a ja606er be recieved if he came out as gay?

posted on 15/2/13

Like I say, there are many gay footballers and even more bi-sexual footballers!

posted on 15/2/13

8bit, I am not bothered one bit whether he or any other football is gay or not. What bothers me is the yellow ticking bar at the bottom of SSN calling it breaking news? I mean honestly, who gives a flying fúck?

how do you know?
