Surprised there hasn't been a bigger meltdown on here.

We already spent £200m. Yesterday and in fact the last few weeks were all about backups. So what was there to get all worked up about?

Unless you include Cedric, which is usually enough to get people hyped.

It's the start of the season, though Timber's injury was unfortunate. The second half of the season is all about the squad, so I expect January is a bigger window for worrying about that.

Injuries can happen anytime, not just second half of the season. We have 6 CL games to play before January.
As Castor will tell you, Zinchenko and Tomiyasu are injury prone. Saliba has a back issue, so you can never be certain that won't flare up again.


We are definitely one short, probably 2.

One CB short imo.

But we do have Rice who is a proficient CB. I suppose that's why Edu/Arteta target players capable of playing in multiple positions.

And if Rice and Partey are in the back 4 who plays DM, considering you wrote off Jorginho for that role yesterday...

Because the CBs are also the full backs. You would play Kiwoir or White at CB and Partey at full back before even thinking about Rice.

The fact you are even bringing up our £105m midfielder in a conversation about the defence shows the glaring weakness.
