Was never Edu's biggest fan, but this seems like really odd timing.

Could just be angling for a pay rise.

Or perhaps he just wants an easier life where the internet doesn’t explode every time he has a BBQ

Players coming to Arsenal is on Arteta only. They dont join Arsenal because of Edu.

I don't really know in that position whether you want someone who is just the managers voice upstairs and backs whatever Arteta wants, or if you want a more contratrian who has his own views as well. Think David Dein was more of the latter tbf

Not really my point. I think one thing that is clear is that Edu is 100% aligned with what Arteta has been trying to do these past years - regardless of cost. I suspect a lot of directors in his position would have tried to convince/force Arteta to keep the likes of Aubameyang.

Arteta is the force behind the transfers. Edu made them possible. Surely Edu give Arteta his opinions on players but Arteta decide who is coming or leaving.

Yep exactly. And hope it will be the same with the next guy - though would be nice if he did query whether we really need another 7 defenders next summer

And only buy players who arent injury prone.
