I seem to remember a lot of the older lads at Liverpool having wedge cuts plus all the sportswear brought over from European aways. That was early 80's.
Footballers with top hats, monacles, and smoking pipes.
Hounslow's I had a sheepskin myself. I got to admit that I passed on the Donkey Jackets. If I had a Council job then maybe I be wearing them all day long.
Knotty Ash, yeah I forgot that. I had the soulboy wedgie hairstyle also - late Seventies first with blond and then later red highlights
Things you do when you're young
"plus all the sportswear brought over from European aways. "
my recollection is that it was "bought" with a five finger discount.
Benetton rugby shirts were a favourite back in the mid eighties, along with adidas first tracksuit tops, and grand slam, or trim trab trainers.
Happy days.

I remember having a ruler at school with Keegan and a few others on it.... All sporting perms, it was a thing of beauty
Trabs, Munchens, Vilas and Grand Slams were the shoes of choice.
Siempre is right about how the goods were purchased. I got a Kleim tracky top off me cousin after a trip to France.
Wade Smiths tiny shop on Slater street was a gold mine for imported trainers.
Adidas Samba, I missed that also. Regulation issue for Football fans circa 1979.
The Docs army! Seeing mancs dressed in tartan was funny! Just loved them days!
I remember Wadeys on Slater St. When it moved to Lord St I practically lived in their and Probe.
KnottyAsh, Adidas Gazelle, do you how many colours did/do they come in? Seems like every colour of the rainbow.

Thought you scousers have been stuck in shell suits since the late 80s
Jack Sharpes on Whitechapel was always worth a look.
Remember persuading my mother to get me a pair of Borg elite back in about 83 from there and being absolutely made up.
Trakkees & trainees for the scousers these days

As soon as all the snides started coming out we used to and still remove the compass badge so as to be less obvious. However, with the two buttons still attached, those in the know were/are still able to recognise it as the genuine article.
Ccs do you remember a few of the lads wearing Deerstalkers with Pringles back in the late 80's? That just used to make me plss myself laughing.
It looked like a squad of Sherlock Holmes wannabes walking down the Kings Rd
Originaly adidas gazelle were only really available in blue, which was the best colour, since then they have been produced in every colour under the sun.
Remember when we were kids on holiday in north wales in the early eighties, laughing our heads of at the mancs in their plimsoles and berms.
You could spot them a mile off.
