I blame the media, they overhype our players then attack them when they don't perform.

I'm from Northern Ireland so you can see why I have little interest in it
To me - International football disturbs the club football season.
Sad but true
i think maybe tv is to blame.
when i was younger, i would only ever get to see romario play in a world cup.
but now there is tv coverage of all major leagues, and you could see clips online from all leagues in the world pretty much, so you are just used to seeing these great players week in week out, instead of every 4 years
Int football is not for supporters of the top 6/7 clubs
The other 80 odd find it just a fascinating as before

maybe so.
so why doesnt wembley always sell out when england play?
Also, the players (largely) used to be much more likeable.
Think Euro 96. Gazza, dentists chair, Sheringham, Pearce... what a team of characters. You'd have sold an organ to go out on the beers with them. You liked them and wanted them to win, they created a good atmosphere around the side.
These days I can't stand most of the players in the national team. That or they are exceptionally boring.
"I blame the media, they overhype our players then attack them when they don't perform."
dont read sport columns and games on mute, my enjoyment of football has been infinitely better since i adopted this
I have to admit, I don't feel half as attached to watching England as I do now compared to when I was growing up.
Perhaps it is the media?
Maybe its because we are fed up as being so hyped up to win tournaments only to then fail?
I'd love England to win a world cup or the euros but I can't see it in my lifetime...
I think if you're doing well, you perhaps have more interest. There was a period when Northern Ireland were doing well, for Northern Ireland's standard and I was very interested inthe competition we were playing in, watching other games to see how good they were.
The same for the Champions League, with Liverpool not in it, I have lost interest and only really watch the games for betting purposes.
Also I find this new brand of football quite boring. Barcelona and Spain for example bore the life out of me.
Well I'm studying to work in that area so it'll be a bit hard Cheg
i think the point about not liking the players is valid.
club rivalries aside, the england team is full of people that seem to be s
even my own jermain defoe - facking every bird under the son. in papers for wrong reasons.
the chelsea lot, rooney and his comments to the camera in the world cup, ashley young diving about. they just generally seem to be a bunch of s, one or two players aside.
i have much more time for the under 21s... much less ego
for me nowadays England always seem to play so negatively.
there is no pace or tempo to their play and to be honest its quite dull to watch.
ha fair enough mate, maybe you can change it from the inside one day. The problem is they are trying to give people what they want; they want hope before a tournament, and to hang draw and quarter failures afterwards
International football has got a lot more defensive over the last few years as well. I still really enjoy the tournaments though, especially the last couple of Euros.
England are boring to watch as well. If we played better football I'm sure people would be more interested.
International football may not be what it was but the world cup will always be the pinnacle of football and the competition I look forward to most.
i know youre a spur Chronic but u genuinely think Cahill and Lampard are <surfers>, two of the more professional England players.

wasnt lampard in the paper a couple of years ago for cheating on his wife
Couldn't give a stuff about it.
I was secretly hoping San Marino were going to beat Eng-er-land
