The time Carragher did it was hilarious also.

How do they do subtitles on a radio?
--------------------------------------
They did one of those computerised voice-over things which modified his voice to sound like a slow motion robot.

I wouldn't even start Gerrard, I think Carrick, Cleverly and Wilshere would be England's best midfield. But that doesn't mean I won't support whoever starts.

This.

And that's where I think people don't care about how well their country does, when they don't want their best players playing.

I couldn't care less about who footballers do or don't sleep with...

TBH any football fan who does seriously care about footballers having or not having an affair wants to pick up a copy of hello or heat magazine and have a natter with the lady next door about all the latest celebrities who are having affairs or having a baby or have even made a shocking fashion mistake...

and leave football to actual football fans.

TOOR I have never understood it either, all I ever hear is about how overhyped we are and how much we like to overestimate our own players...

This is usually followed by being overly critical of all of our players...

If Lampard, Gerrard or Parker start the next World Cup you may as well not bother watching it.

Time to ditch the perennial failures, they couldn't do it in their prime, there's no chance of them doing it in the heat of Brazil in their mid-30s.

Blood a young vibrant side now, and gave them prepared for 2014 if we qualify

So I don't care about the England team because I don't think Gerrard should start?

7Arab.

The Spurs fans on here are still cut up about Ashley Cole cheating on Cheryl Cole. That's why they dont like England anymore.

You should not always interpret people who discuss this stuff as actually caring about players private lives, when most of the time it is because they are defending their players. Like i was for instance

It all coincided with the birth of the Premier League in 1992 or thereabouts.

There only ever used to be the FA Cup Final or internationals on TV then BOOM.....anyone with a Sky subscription had football coming out of their ears!

I can remember waiting patiently and excitedly for England matches coz they were the only footie I could watch on TV, all other games were my beloved City in the freezing cold.

No one is saying Gerrard isn't good enough, but we just don't think he's as good as Clevshirrick. By all means, bring him on at 60 minutes or so, but we don't think he'd work as well in that set up

"I also don't understand this overhyped business, although I don't read papers, I do see headlines and extracts on websites and it also seems like the media like to talk about how crap England are, so much so that there's a bit of ridicule involved. This has spilled over into the sheep."

This, both ways. Fans and the media on the way in to a competition with far too high an expectation, both of results and performances. Then, when it is all done, those same fans and media lambast them and lose interest.

Wouldn't happen if people were more realistic in what they expect from international football. They aren't going to play the way a team in the champions league does, they don't train together every day or even have the same tactics due to the difference in players in virtually every squad.

Look at Spain. Normally, their midfield trio is the same as starts virtually every game for Barca and know each others game inside out which is why their national team has been so good the last few years. You take one player out of it and put in Cazorla, what happens? They draw with Finland.

I think Terry is odious in every way, and never should have been picked for England at the Euros. Barring the fact he was utterly shown up at WC2010 too by Germany.

I won't support them while he's involved, there's a line to be drawn and he's over it.

Except for being an outstanding player, we have always known about his lack of pace yet he was paired with Upson rather than a quick CB who can cover him, stupid selection error, even if Upson scored it doesnt change the fact their was no pace at CB

It's amazing how many people on this website are upstanding citizens who have never upset anyone, or anything.

If only the 7 billion people were cut from the same cloth as them.

...................................

Wasn't aimed at you personally, those in general who do actually care about an affair and use it as an excuse to criticise a footballer. I actually ended up debating it previously (I did make the effort to point out I didn't care then as well)

The Spurs fans on here are still cut up about Ashley Cole cheating on Cheryl Cole. That's why they dont like England anymore.

It has to be partially to do with jealously. A player at a club (they) dislike he is hugely talented and successful is cheating on a woman who (looks wise at least) is at close to the woman of most men's dreams.

Aside from the comments directed at Anton Ferdinand is Terry actually any worse than any random person you could find in the street?

If cheating on someone marks you out as odious then surely Terry is odious.. just as odious as the majority of the people of Britain.

Don't know about the 'majority' Arab, never have done and never will cheat on someone

Other than that though, you're right, but that doesn't make Terry less of a it just makes the people who do the same as he does <surfers> too. He is just more high profile.

Good footballer though.

I'm probably one of the few United and England fans that thinks Wayne Rooney is an absolute unt!

Still support him and what him to do well and play every game. You support the club/country and not the players.

However, it's understandable that people have a dislike to certain players, and as a result, their clubs. But when it comes to representing your country it shouldn't matter.

Speak for yourself, Chronic.

Everyone in my office, along with my mates, have planned an evening in the pub for the game.

I'm just as patriotic as i've ever been, and will always be. I'm very proud of my country & will be England 'til i die.

God save the Queen.

DTKF, the way it works is, during the club season, Rooney is a to all one United fans. Then Internationals pop up, Rooney is no longer a and is our best/one of our best players.

Rooney then screws up, and goes back to square one. Or does fantastically for England, then goes back to United. Where he's a again.

I've never taken to Rooney. He just looks like such a slob. I don't like seeing him in an England shirt.

Its just the quality of international football is dross in my opinion most of the games at the big tournaments are boring affairs England only play really well and score alot against teams ranked 150 or lower but most are 1-0 affairs. To be honest though i saw the russia vs brazil game yesterday and it was brilliant loads of good play.
