So your dislike of Terry is based purely because what he did affected a team mate? I personally hate Terry with a passion, whether he cheated on Bridge's wife or any other man's wife that wouldn't personally make my hatred any different. I think he's basically a disgusting skum bag.

Maybe it has more of an affect if similar things have happened to people close to you, having had someone close to me being f_cked over similarly and their life ruined maybe means I look at the Terry, Giggs and Rooney situations differently. Great footballers but all of them despicable human beings.

manutd1982 nobody is telling you to like them your not going to get married to them or anything you just have to enjoy watching them play football who cares if they are arseholes or not, you agree they are good footballers. ye i should have been more clear it didnt help last time when was banned for the two opening games aswell for a silly challenge.

I hear what you're saying, for me though if a guy is a f_cking horrible skumbag off the pitch then it definitely has an impact on how I feel about them on it. The same principle applies at the other end, people love footballers who seem to have character and are funny/interesting, look at players like Maradona, Gazza and Cantona, all great players but it's their character that make people love them more. Or look at someone like Jimmy Bullard, average player but seems like a great guy off the pitch which is why people like him. What they are like off the pitch does/should have an affect on how people perceive players on the pitch.

Britain is full of violent thugs...

It makes sense to have them in our national team.
