Since 1990 34 new countries have been formed in the world,Armenia,Azerbaijan,Belarus,Estonia,Georgia,Latvia,Lithuania,Moldova,Ukraine etc to name a few in europe alone, most of them are just making up the numbers, and we see it on the european football stage now.
They all have a right to compete, but as a spectacle it's usually one sided, very uncompetitive.
San marino, faroe islands, get pumped every game,it's pretty embarrassing, and since the dilution of states like russia and yugoslavia the quality has dropped tremendously.

Agreed. Makes you wonder if any other countries have discussions like this one

Lets face it, 99% of all club fans think 99% of other club players are .

But the reality is, if half the players we all call s joined our own clubs, they would be idolised. Its how football works.

For me Rooney hasn't done anything that bad...

The cheating as I have previously said I couldn't care less about.

I have even made a comment previously where I have said I would actively encourage my teams players to cheat on their partners if it would improve their performance...

The comment after the Algeria game. It was stupid to say it because you can't criticise your own fans, even if your right, which he was.

Outside of that what is it a few red cards and a few aggressive incidents?

TBH I would much prefer that to him being Stan Collymore wandering around the pitch without a care in the world...

His disciplinary record is actually getting quite good these days so that really wouldn't be an excuse to keep disliking him...

It is probably important to note at this point that I don't actually dislike any footballers (at least not because of their personal lives)

Although the likes of Collymore for hitting his misses goes down in my estimations for example.

England played great football to beat Brazil recently. People will say it was just a friendly but the game meant a lot to Brazil because these are the only games Brazil has until the world cup.

They won't have walked away from that defeat feeling happy with themselves.

I wouldn't say interest is low in international football. I think it's just with qualifiers these day often being against poor sides, it's not really that exciting. Many people know that England should qualify so they probably aren't as interested.

It's a matter of preference, I guess.

TOOR,

=================

If Bale joined Liverpool, then all the LFC fans who said he was over-rated would love him, and all the Spurs fans who call Suarez the sc-um of the earth, would be shouting his name if he joined Spurs.

And i would never stop supporting my country just because they dont play exciting football - there is a name for fans who do this sort of thing, and it rhymes with elastic.

Lets face it another reason is that the majority of international football is pointless and uninteresting.

Friendlies and qualifiers are as boring as pre season friendlies.

Lets face it I doubt many people jump up and celebrate when seeing England score against San Marino and Montenegro.

I just think in general Rooney acts like a dîck. Both on the pitch and on. Just my opinion of him as a person.

Class footballer though.

Rooney looked like a shy person on that street footballer thing he did few yrs ago.

I personally think there need to be some kind of preliminary rounds for countries/principalities such as San Marino, Andorra etc. Much like how the FA Cup let the lesser teams play each other for a few rounds before the big boys enter.

I don't really agree that teams like San Marino have a right to be automatically put into a group with top footballing countries in the same way a conference team has no right to be put into the FA Cup at the same stage as a PL team. Let the $hit nations fight it out for a few games, they would probably enjoy the competitiveness of the games with possibility of actually winning a game. This would also make the group stages far more competitive which would then make it more entertaining for the fans.

Also the financial power of the top club teams over the years had slowly led to the demise of international football. The CL is where it's at now, representing your country means so much less these days sadly.

All Liverpool fans? No. I've never said Bale was overrated. As I said before, it's how idiots work, not football fans.

Darren The King Fletcher

What's your view on Giggs? I love him as a player and what he's done for United but what he did off the pitch was pretty disgusting but in the eyes of most football fans they don't really seem to care.

Football fans are a very fickle bunch.

All you have to do is look back at the amount of people saying RvP was past it, United shouldn't buy him coz he's 29, injury prone/expensive, etc, etc. Fast forward 6 months and he's now God's gift to football by the same people.
