I haven't read the Quran that well but I'm sure it doesn't say we have to kill someone that doesn't follow Islam hippo

I love International football. The way the Country comes together at a tournament is wicked.

I'd hazard a guess that we'd be more enthusiastic if we were not so horribly poor and the tickets were not £90.

poor at football I mean by that.

Robbing

Even the pubs aren't filling up like they used to due to people not being able to afford to drink in there.

I hate international friendlies, I just think they are pointless and they are almost never entertaining.

Qualifiers are usually similarly boring, although obviously they are not quite as pointless.

But to be honest I still enjoy the actual tournaments. I don't know what it is about them, but if the World Cup or the Euro is on then I can quite happily just sit there and watch, regardless of who is playing.

But I agree with the OP's feelings about England. I really do not care about the national team. In fact if, for example, England were to freakishly lose to an absolute minnow then I would probably find it quite amusing more than anything. When it comes to international football, I am a complete neutral.

I like the internationals, it's up to you if you decide to make more or less of the games than they actually are The media doesn't ever help though, TV has made international football what it is, so these games are artificially important to them, the rest of us probably don't mind watching the games but we could do without the BS that comes with it.

It's because Sky don't back it. Sky have killed off every tournament bar their own. The PL and CL. This has been abetted by the FA who have also ruined the football experience for the average fan.

I was a bit too young for Euro 96 but I remember the 98 World Cup very well. There was a buzz like nothing before. Where I grew up it was 80% Chelsea and 20% West Ham, Arsenal and Spurs but it did not matter one jot when England were on, we had BBQ's and it was an event.

Nowadays club tribalism has killed it and for me my love affair with England ended after the 98 World Cup and Beckham witchhunt, I flirted briefly but the 02 World Cup was the final nail.

The anti-Chelsea contingent amongst England's fanbase which comprises mainly of West Ham, Spurs and pikey Northern lower league clubs has put many off.

IMO Euro 2004 was the last time the country was truly Unitec and placed country before club

I think the whole Wembley move was a disaster.

Its a great stadium, no doubt, but the country were behind the team more when the games were going around the country and lots of people who wouldn't normally watch England got the chance to.

Wembley is easy for me as I am only hour and a half away tops on the train, but the decision to play all games including friendlies at Wembley was ludicrous.

It should be used for maybe 50% of qualifiers and friendlies, with the other 50% going around the country.

I think the media has been complicit in the way we look at the england team these days, polarising views sells papers.

I'm an 80's baby so my first memories of international football are Italia 90 and watching the likes of lineker, Gazza, platt, Shilton etc, players who I really admired for one reason or another..... Over the last few years we've had to put up with has-beens like beckham hanging on for dear life and being picked on reputation rather than form and <unts like lampard, terry, cole and Rooney in the team - simply can't stand them and I'm far more concerned about how spurs do than england

Definitely agree about Euro 2004, ever since then I haven't really cared about England.
Watch them if they get to the major tournaments but not bothered about friendlies/qualifiers and not bothered if we got out.

Darren The King Fletcher

So much for Rooney losing his technical ability. As I said before, at United he has some mental issues. You can see it in how he plays a lot of the time.

Same here. Hoping he doesn't get injured and more than happy for none of the spurs players to get England call-ups, haven't watched an England game since 2010

Not that interested in england anymore, we have a poor manager whos tactics are terrible and I am so sick of seeing the england gk kick it to the opposition and our defenders hoooof......its fkn desperate.

Why didnt woy respond to the Montenegro tactics after ht? Why didnt he replace either milner or cleverly after 55 odd minutes? Why didnt he stretch the Montenegro defence by bringing on sturridge? Tell u why......cause he is an average manager will piz poor tactical nous.

We've had a succession of poor managers but to be fair to Roy he probably has the worst squad out of the lot of them.

Hoddle, despite being crazy, was onto something.

Hoddle was England, s best manager of recent (ish) times, we kept the ball and he had decent tactical knowledge. Even down to 10 men vs the argies we nearly won it....compare with useless hodgson!!!! As lfc fans we know have sht he is.

Never really liked the football under him and I think that pool of players he had wee's all over this lot. He insisted on square pegs in round holes and scholes retired under him.

But Cambell, Owen, Beckham, Sherringham, Scholes, Fowler and Hargreaves would all walk into this England team.
