TBH, I still don't actually mind Giggs on the LW where he can still do a job for half an hour but playing him last night in CM when younger, better CMs were sat on the bench was criminal
---
Exactly my thoughts.
what really annpyed me about last night was other than having a couple of cb's missing, we were at full strength all over the pitch, yet fergie still insisted on playing a 39 year old winger in midfield alongside carrick (who although an excellent reader of the game isnt the most nimble) against toure, silva and barry.
sure we are still 12 points clear, and we should still win the league, however last night was a chance for utd to beat city and show them that they are the best team in the country.
after last night city will now look to next season and think thay have a great chance of winning the league.
had this game come earlier in the season and there were a few more gmaes left than there actually is, i'd be concerned about throwing away another huge lead.
It really annoys me when people criticise people for criticising the manager. Like VC said, what happened to the SAF of old who gave youngsters a chance, who let the pensioners go to pasture and who set up a Utd team to play good football
I still don't get the logic behind Giggs starting last night. Apart from central defense we were at full strength at home to our biggest rivals, the game was perfectly set up for us to show everyone we are the top team in England by playing a positive attacking team and instead he goes for a 2 man midfield consisting of a 39 year old while Cleverly sits on the bench knowing full well City will likely have numbers in the middle.
I honestly have no idea what Ferguson's logic was.
1982,
did you just take my post and reword it

The Stretty sounded like they were trying to suck the ball into the net in the second half and the players simply didn't respond
How many times have we heared these cliches this season
1. It was not vintage United but...
2. That was so un-United like but...
3. They didn't play as well as the can but still managed to get the job done
Seems like it's every game for me practically

What youngsters are not getting a chance?
Ha, great minds...
What worries me is that last nights result and performance wasn't remotely surprising. Yes we will win the league and that's a great achievement but we are far from a great side, a very good and efficient squad but when it actually comes to a best XI and the quality of our play it is pretty average.
Also, does anyone actually understand why Ferguson bought Kagawa? Does Ferguson?

Have to say the posting style is incredibly similar
You could be onto something there
Hmm, let's see
Welbeck in attack
Anderson
Cleverley
Smalling at CB
Hernandez
Kagawa
Jones - the new Oshea
All of the above 24 years and younger
Let's also not forget Pogba gone, Powell not even given a few minutes here or there.
Then let's look at how the players are utilised; Nani being destroyed, Valencia constantly playing even though he's been poor, Giggs a decent winger played in midfield for no discernible reason. Scholes would have done a better job.
If you guys are happy about the current situation and the way we approach games and the way our squad is utilised. I worry for all of you
UnitedRedMacca
It's such a shame, he has so much of what we are crying out for yet Ferguson is reluctant to use him properly. This team lack incisive play, movement around the box, quick 1 touch passing which is what Kagawa can provide if played in the hole with like minded players around him.
for me kagawa is a top player who needs to get used to the PL, i dont think anyone should have expected him to hit great heights in his first season.
Results this season have masked what has been a season of poor performances, poor tactical decisions, and a season of pedestrian football.
i said a while ago that fergie leaving may not be a bad thing and i still stand by that.
at some point over the next couple of years he will leave.
people go on about a new manager needing time, but that will be the case whenever he goes.
for me utd have become stagnant, and lets be honest, very little passion is shown by the team and complacency seems to set in far to often.
maybe a new manager coming in will ignite that passion back within the club.
Dunc, preach it brother. We are on a downward spiral into mediocrity. The garbage we play will not work all the time. A new manager may not be successful for a while but it's something we have to consider as our manager is on the decline

Welbeck and Cleverley not getting chances? with 35 and 29 appearances respectively this season.
Anderson is Anderson, he has had 162 chances for us and still nowhere nearer to nailing down a starting berth.
Smalling at CB has Rio and Vidic ahead of him not to mention Jonny Evans, another youngster who had been given the chance.
Hernandez has made 28 appearances this season and that's with RVP and Rooney ahead of him.
Jones again refer to the point about Smalling.
Youngsters don't get chances because they are youngsters. Youngsters get chances because they deserve it and no one is better at judging that than Ferguson, the man who seems them every day in training.

Hope you're right about Kagawa and I know he's said himself the PL is very different to the Bundesliga but I just can't see Ferguson changing his very strict ways to accommodate a player like Kagawa. Ferguson's priority in attacking players these days is their ability to defend rather than attack.
Ferguson's tactics work over a 38 game season where you are playing predominantly average teams and have a large squad. It is however massively flawed when we play any quality as we don't have a best XI and are too worried about the opponents strengths than our own and playing players out of position constantly.
Chances in what positions? Fergie gave youngsters chances in the past. Feck me, remember Darren Fletcher.
If Fergie hasn't lost the plot, how can he justify playing Giggs in midfield with Carrick. It cost us against Barca, Norwich and now City.
The man is losing the plot and the sooner people realise this the better
i also read that stats wise we are worse off than last seaon in terms of goals scored and conceded in totals and average's per game, which for me also suggests that this seasons lead is more down to cities poor defense than utd's superiority.
im not saying fergie is a bad manager, but as i say, its only a matter of time before he calls it a day.
Then let's look at how the players are utilised; Nani being destroyed,
----------------------
Kags from Bundesliga player of the season to average left Winger in less than 12 months
If Rooney doesn't move on in the Summer, this guy will be next on the list to be destroyed
Scholes' tackling coach
How many of Welbeck's 35 games has he actually played as a striker rather than a winger though.
Same goes with Smalling and Jones and their games played as a CB.
What alarms me about when you judge Fergie is that you completely disregard all the wins this season. You only mention the losses, that of which there are three compared to twenty five wins.
Granted I wouldn't say that this is a vintage united side in terms of entertainment to say that Fergie is losing it because we are not as exciting but still winning is ridiculous.
