You forget that Cleverley played against Madrid and was just as good as any of their players.

The guy is a big game player.

What a stupid question. I can reply with 'how many times did Solskjaer play on the wing'?

Just because some players have played in one position their whole careers doesn't mean some can't play in others.

MuDD, for a smart guy you do come out with some real simple minded baloney.

and there rests my case where people are blinded by results over performances.

you are right, we have won those games, but in quite a few of those we had to come from behind and squeeze out a result, we shouldnt need to go behind to inferior teams in order to start playing.

many of those wins could easily have been draws or defeats, thats how fine the margins were.

Solksjaer played on the wing becuase Beckham was misbehaving. The point a lot of you are makign is that because of VP Welbeck and Henrnadez are suffering and have to play elsewhere.

I countered that by saying why didn't the manager do that with Sheringham or when he signed Ruud.

You can't have it both ways.

Have you considered that Sheringham was never a pacey player and him playing on the wing is far more insane than a guy like Welbeck who played on the wing with great success for Sunderland can do a job there?

Because Sheringham can't play on the wing. Welbeck to a degree can.
Hernandez cannot and therefore does not play on the wing.

Honest question. Like my '05/06' article says, do you think the boss can turn it around?
------------------
Not with his current philosophy of destroying talenten players so he gets to play his favourites

Last season, we blew an 8 point lead. Sir Alex has to shoulder alot of that

Let's see what happens because we are tiptoeing down the home straight at the minute

The FA cup quarter final showed what wer'e about at the minute

Trying to stop Chelsea playing than playing our own game

Bore fest

So why does Fergie play a winger with no pace or no passing ability in the centre of midfield?

Welbeck didn't play as a winger for Sunderland

Why didn't Fergie play Andy Cole as a winger when he signed Van Nistelrooy.

Cole had pace, skill and could pass. Why did he not play him on the wing?

He didn't play cole there because we had Giggs there, we didn't have underperforming wingers like we do today. I think you need to stop assuming every situation is the same when it is not.

We blew a 12 point lead in 97 but then won the CL the next year. These things happen but this year he's done more than enough to ensure that won't happen again.

Regarding 'destroying' talented players, that's very much overplayed. Nani has been his own worst enemy. The guy has played plenty of times for us and has been abysmal. It's funny how you never criticise him but the boss that plays him there gets all the blame.

Anderson had all the talent in the world and showed it in his first season. Did Sir Alex force feed him all that junk food and make him fat? Did Sir Alex constantly injure him?

Sometimes the players have to look at themselves.

Or big game bench warmer, as was the case last night

Welbeck has done ok in a couple of games on the wing where his energy has been extremely important.

However, as a winger in an attacking sense he's been very poor.

He cannot, and doesn't, even cross the ball. Rarely makes chances and doesn't shoot. Doesn't do too bad up until he gets into the final 3rd when he does nothing.

I can allow for this as he is simply not a winger. He has potential to be a decent striker but needs games there and needs more end product.

His end product has been poor this season so I cannot understand the justification for playing him wide and saying he's done well there, he simply hasn't.

Other wingers have't pulled up any trees but Nani, Kagawa, Rooney, Giggs, Young and Valencia are all better options there.

Welbeck is being turned into another Park.

Rob, I have, more than you. Even as a winger his final ball was always an issue. So how does a winger with a limited passing game play in the centre of midfield

Scholes, so with the underperforming wingers we have today. What has been the managers solution to the problem? He plays an underperforming striker as a winger and plays a central midfield player as a winger against Chelsea?

This doesn't trouble you guys????

How many big games has Cleverley been a bench warmer this season?

He started against Chelsea (twice), Arsenal, Real, City and Spurs this season.

Who knows why he was on the bench last night but whatever reason it was, given Toms multitude of appearances in CM in games of similar or even more important games he has been in the line up. I don't see why that gets whitewashed.

posted on 9/4/13

Welbeck and Giggs are two entirely different cases. Giggs in my opinion shouldn't have played last night and I think that was a mistake from Fergie but look at the stats, Giggs has only played 15 league games this season.

Me and Macca have had our issues but we're both adult enough to debate them. We may not always agree but that's what debating sites are for.

What the good people on here don't need is you in the background acting like an attention seeking 12 year old trying to poison peoples minds.

I get it, you don't like me. Why don't you stop going on about me and get on with your life. Your constant digs are boring and even worse, it strikes me as obsessive and says a lot about you.

-------------------
In midfield of late? Yes

And he's terrible. We've been saying it for 2 years now and he still plays him there.

Playing Giggs alongside Carrick in a game of that magnitude is utter madness

Playing players out of position is a necessary situation on occassions but Sir Alex is taking to levels I have never seen before, and when he doesn't have to either

We were an unnecessary unbalanced mess last night. Again
