Really...That is terrible, really terrible
Cant argue with the numbers jay..
Paisley - Legend
Paisley is worldclass, fergie is only continental.
Extrapolated numbers don't mean anything. No one can say with any degree of certainty that Paisley would have been as successful over the same period of time.
Likewise no one can say he wouldn't have been. Both absolutely fantastic managers, and worthy of being spoken in the same breath.
However, purely in terms of trophies won, he is the most successful.
And you can't really compare managers from across different eras, how do you know he would be as successful in the money driven modern day football?
Ferguson is better because he stuck around longer is basically your argument, how about we compare the first 9 years of their managerial careers? again paisley wipes the floor with Ferguson.
Paisley > Ferguson
Paisley was a perfect manager he was respected as manager and as PERSON
"Likewise no one can say he wouldn't have been. Both absolutely fantastic managers, and worthy of being spoken in the same breath."
"However, purely in terms of trophies won, he is the most successful." well....not in Europe. paisley wiped the floor with Fergie there
Didn't Paisley have a far better squad than SAF when he took over? I'm not trying to belittle his achievements, it is just difficult to compare the 2.

It is extremely subjective IRU, and something no one can every unanimously agree on. Similarly, people consistently compare Pele, Maradona, Messi, et al. There is simply no right answer, and they best we can do is acknowledge that collectively, they were the best in their field.

Paisley went straight into one of the best teams in the country, in a stronger league. Fergie started at East Stirlingshire and then St Mirren, followed by Aberdeen, behind a still dominant Rangers and Celtic.
Sorry guys, but ive shown hard fact, the extrapolation is just to illustrate the point shown by the other figures.
Figures are solid, the arguments in Fergie's favour are straw men.

Im pretty sure you can pick any of fergusons 9 successive years in football and paisley wipes the floor with him.
Straw argument again
Paisley > Ferguson
Paisley might of had good squad but he still had to get the players to play for him
SAFs record destroys Paisleys very good record.
And we're not even talking about his Aberdeen record...
