all well and good saying he is a squad player but how much will he be paid?
strange signing unless he's going to play because his wages wont be cheap

How do you know?
he was on 120k according to reports.
how much of a cut do you think he'll take to be a squad player at Liverpool?
even if he takes half its 60k a week.
He's took a significant pay cut apparently

Yeah, there's plenty of teams who 'could' pay that, but why buy him for that price when you can get a younger player in papdopoulos for a similar price.
we got him for about 6mil VC and I'd be happy to recoup that.
..............................
Pretty decent prioce to be honest.
I remember when you signed him, there were a lot of Liverpool fans on the old 606 that saw him as the new Vidic.
Not sure he ever had the talent of Vidic. He certainly didn't live up to expectations.
Do you see many players leaving anfield this summer? Downing for example?
Skrtel is highly regarded in eastern Europe.
Zenit have been interested in him all year.
Inter Milan and Fiorentina are also looking at him.
I think the likes of Downing and Shelvey may well be allowed to leave if decent offers come in for them. One thing I don't expect to see anymore is players going on loan, ie Carroll, Aquilani!
The first Ivorian to play for Liverpool!

They can look but we will only get 12mil if damien Comolli is working for one of them.

I have no idea, I don't know him.
He wouldn't have been on big money at Arsenal as they are not high payers.
Maybe he is sensible and knows he can only get silly money at the likes of Chelsea and City.
He will be on less than what Carra was on anyway, so that's good enough for me, all contributes to reducing our wage bill.
If Skrtel and Coates were replaced by Papadopolous and Ilori then that would probably further reduce the defensive wage bill, while maintaining or improving the quality.
Raj, Liverpool have introduced a new performance related wage structure, so I doubt Toure will be on a high basic salary.

I'm happy with this news. The defence obviously needs improving and Toure will be a capable player when needed.
Happy with Kolo personally. Still a decent player who's more than capable in the PL. Brings a wealth of experience. Two PL titles and a decade as a CL player. The big plus is what he can do to mentor Kelly and Wisdom
righteous you start by asking me how I know but then tell me he will be on less than carragher.
so how do you know?
I stand by it. if he was on 120k at city then I reckon he would be an expensive squad player.
but most of you would never admit it because its criticism coming from a united fan.
fsg wouldnt of signed him if he was asking for absurd wages.
For a free it seems to be an astute signing. We have a young inexperienced squad and we need some players with a bit of know how in the squad, especially in the back 4.
I couldn't care less if you support Witton Albion.
Carra was at the club 20 years and was unofficial captain in that time and a leader.
He would have been one of the highest paid players at the club. I don't 'know', but it's pretty obvious.
Toure will not be on as much as Carra, if you think he will be, then you clearly know nothing about how our club is run.
Whether you are a scouser who knows nothing, or a cockney, is irrelevant.
how is it obvious?
was carra on more than 75k a week? 100k?
you started off by asking how I know. I gave you some logic and now you are just spouting off claims that you have no idea whether are true
suso I didn't say absurd wages. just expensive if you think hes there as a squad player that's all
Carra was on atleast 100k a week if not more.
Raj trying to get some digs in
^
there you go.
cant respond to a reasoned comment if it comes from a united fan.
pathetic
I have responded with logic, Raj.
Man City pay silly wages.
Just because Toure was on silly wages at Man City, does not mean he will be somewhere else, especially not a club whose stated aim is to reduce the wage bill and get better value for money. I nor you have any idea how big a pay cut he would have taken, but it doesn't take a genius to realise it would be substantial.
Your highest paid players are your best players. Carra was on a contract signed when he was one of our best players. It doesn't take a genius to realise he would then be one of our highest paid players.
So losing one of our highest paid players, gaining a player taking a substantial wage cut. It is possible that the wage cut would only take Toure to Carra level wages, but this is highly unlikely, because if he was being paid as much as Carra was, we wouldn't be signing him.
I would have thought you would be more concerned about serial non winner Sir David culling a successful back room team?
Atsu and Kolo share the same agent, make of that what you will.
righteous forget carragher. its irrelevant to the point.
in my opinion paying a squad player 60k a week or more is expensive.
that is only half of what toure is on at man city so its unlikely to be less than that and possibly more.
what part of that do you disagree with
That's sound's like a football scandal in the making suso!!!
