1.He bossed the midfield (the hardest position in football)
2. He never had a bald head with just a quiff
3.Nobody! Talks about his familia without getting a chest full of Zizou head!

Ronaldo was faster, stronger and more skillfull than any player on the pitch no matter who he was playing against, he is by a huge distance the best player ive ever seen, massive gap between him and anyone else, if it wasnt for injuries it wouldn't even be a debate as to who is the best ever

if he played in todays Barca team he'd score 100 a season

Kent, exactly.

The football hardly inspired people to want to watch England. Even if we weren't winning but were playing some attractive football I bet loads of people would take a much bigger interest in international football.

Back when we had the golden generation people paid attention and got excited as they thought we had the players to win it.

Now our squad is crap and people have realised we don't have a chance, as well as playing crap football, they don't care.

It's like being a bloody glory supporter. Some people actually want us to fail to qualify and would rather see another nation there instead!

don't get me wrong I really liked Ronaldo but Zizou just did something for me.

Having said this when the Japan Korea world cup was on I was still in primary school and a group of my mates got brazil shirts for our sunday team although I chose Ronaldinho's shirt number

I know a couple of people who said the same, I asked one of them the other day, why do you want us to fail?

His reply was (after thinking) well it would just be funny wouldn't it

It will hardly surprise you to know this guys a Chelsea fan

i love it when people say Ronaldinho did things nobody else could with a football, then i show them a video of Ronaldo, he was doing everything Dinho was doing and more

I've heard and read people say "well we aren't gonna win it so we may as well not be there". That's a facking joke attitude.

Mex, perhaps not in terms of tricks as Ronaldo was immense at them, but as a playmaker Dinho did things Ronaldo just couldn't do.

Stretford was calling Rooney's pass to Welbeck a perfect slide rule pass.

I've seen Dinho make a better one against Osasuna off his back! His bloody back! It's still the most outrageous thing I've seen on a football pitch.

I still maintain that Dinho is the most gifted player to play the game. And I'll defend that until I see someone that can change my mind.

His peak was short lived. But at his best I haven't seen a player as good as that ever.

even more outrageous than a 40 yard Djimi Traore volley into the top corner?

Ronaldinho left Europe far too early in his career- he could have had another three or four years here.

Dinho didn't want it enough.

If he had Ronaldo's mentality and attitude we would be talking about the greatest player to play the game without debate.

This is taking his peak in isolation. He was truly remarkable. Ronaldo has surpassed him in his career, but I don't think he's surpassed him as a footballer.

I think a lot of these Brazilians aren't mentally strong enough.

Showing my age here, but in my mind there's still been no other player who could hold a candle to Maradona. Ronaldo came closest.

Agree about int'l footy, people nowadays play it down a lot, but there's no greater pressure in football than a World Cup. CL comes round every year, a World Cup is 2-3 times and you carry the hopes of an entire nation, a sentiment, an identity...it really is a whole new ball game. Imagine how Marcos Senna felt at the Euros.

And yeah, watching your country win the World Cup is undescribable. In fact, it's weird but when we won it, I had a sort of empty feeling, it was like, ok, so what now?

I still have one footballing dream yet to come true though: seeing Barça relegated.

no way jose, Ronaldo was the best player in the world and a 40 goal a season striker at 19, imagine how good he'd have been at 25 without the injuries, it boggles the mind how good he'd have been, by a country mile the most talented player ever, by a country fooking mile

I disagree, imo Dinho crumbled under the pressure of having to lead Brazil to the World Cup in '06. It was only after that massive disappointment that he lost his appetite for the game, I reckon he just never came to terms with it.

I was talking about Cristiano.

I find it really difficult to choose between Ronaldo and Dinho. They're two of my favourite players and so different that it's difficult to compare. Shame we never got to see the pair of them at their peak in the same side.

IOAG, good post. I take issue with one thing:

I still have one footballing dream yet to come true though: seeing Barça relegated.

You'd being sobbing for months.

Do you know who was an unappreciated player, Baggio!

I loved him as a player, doesn't get a mention that often though.

Robbie Baggio was a sensation, especially at Juve, definitely an ATG
